I walked up to Roundswell Hill as I have read about the battle and the Parliamentarians fleeing and falling over the edge where 600 died. Imagine my confusion when reading the information board at the top to be told it was the Royalists that fell!!!...More

Well worth the struggle to find our way up here . Great views, great feeling of space and fresh air and peace and quite. Informative notice boards

Roundway down is best approached from below walking up between the strange furrowed Hillside. It is less well known than nearby Westbury white horse but no less fascinating for its sense of History.a great place for a country walk with the dog or a summer...More

After calling at Reeves Bakery in Devizes, we enjoyed a brisk walk with our collie then a peaceful picnic in our motor home with wonderful views. Will return in the spring.

The views are spectacular across Wiltshire from Oliver’s Castle. Tie a visit to here by exploring the battle site of Roundway Down where Royalist forces beat a larger Parlimentarian force decisively. It’s a good walking area over open grasslands and forest. Dog friendly and plenty...More

This just is a beautiful area to walk around and with a clear day you will surprised how far you can see out into the Wiltshire countryside. I often walk here and always find something to amaze me. The rolling hills are wonderful to see....More
