A pleasant canal walk from the centre of Devizes to the series of locks. Watch the long boats take about 4 hours to get through all the locks...or just stay for 10 mins and be amazed at theatre going up and down through the locks!

We were camping at the Camping & Caravanning Club site & walked along the canal towpath to visit Devizes. This took us past these beautiful locks, so well restored with dedications to all the volunteers on signs by many of them. Whole of lock area...More

The car park is at the top of the flight of 29 locks and you have to walk over to the cafe to pay for parking. It is quite a steep walk so be prepared if you walk down that you have to come back....More

One of the longest continuous flight of locks in the country - a total of 29 locks with a rise of 237 feet over 2 miles. Absolutely outstanding. Lots of walkways and wildlife. Well worth a visit.

As per the title, the view from the top and the bottom of the hill is spectacular. Great place to park up and take the dogs for a walk. Make sure to take your camera.

The wonder of Wiltshire. This is a sight to be seen. I've never gone down in a canal boat, I've only walked it but it is still a tremendous sight. Recommended if you ever visit Devizes.

Could not believe that this length of canal, has now been so beautifully brought back to life. We played in these dried out pounds & used to jump across the decaying lock gates, some 50 years ago. Never thought, in our wildest dreams, to see...More

We visited the locks as we had been through them on a previous canal holiday! Beautiful day and spectacular views. To top it off there was a cafe at the top that provided a welcome cup of tea ( most welcome ) opens at 10:30

Beautiful and historic! The walk from the wharf near the centre of Devizes town to the Caen hill flight is beautiful at any time of year, convenient stop at the little tea room at the start of the main flight serves lovely cakes and coffees....More

Amazing example of Victorian ingenuity. By the time it was finished railways had negated its need! A short walk from Devizes and using the lock gates its possible to crossover and return on the other side, thus negating the need to make the full decent.

We estimate walking the locks at a gentle pace, around an hour. There’s a cafe as you go towards the top. If you are talking about taking a canal up, think we heard it takes 4-5 hours.
