Seeing the remains of the Blessed Julia are certainly of interest, as is the carved tomb of Boccaccio (with the red onion of Certaldo). All part of the charm of the village

For many unaccustomed to such a stark reminder of life's transient aspects, seeing the remains of Saint Julia can be a bit offsetting. However it's a common enough cultural phenomenon in southern Europe. I remember seeing hundreds of skeletons in the catacombs of the Appian...More

Essentially Romanesque with Renaissance touches. The grave monument of the Blessed Tomaso is a touch gruesome. The chief reason for visiting -- unless you wish to worship there -- is that it contains the grave of Boccaccio, who was born and died here.
