we hiked the hess recreation area on a hot afternoon in july. the trails a well groomed and easy to follow. i know one of the review talked about it being like a walk around the park, this is not it at all. Their is 2 well groomed trails in the woods. the trails meet on the far end but not on the end where you park. so you can hike out and back on the same trail or walk through a bunch of city streets to get back to your car. overall a great hike just a shame they do not make the trails meet.

This park primarily has sports fields, but also features hiking and walking trails part of which follow and old railroad bed. Great place for dog walking.

If you’re interested in an easy scenic walk, this trail is for you. Loop is about 3 miles with part of it on an old leveled rail road bed with opposite side of loop on other side of Mahoning Creek. Trail is basically level and shaded going around the Hess Fields. Also great for bikes and dogs. Nice covered bridge across the creek. Live in the area and have never heard of any issues.

If you in the mood for a wonderful hike while staying close to home, this is it. It is an easy to moderate hike through the woods.

If your interested in a skate park, your covered here.

As for the baseball/softball fields, I would look elsewhere. They are oh...in horrible condition.

This is a nice trail for young and old, runners or walkers. It is next to a creek, although you're above it, and you'll get to see all kinds of wildlife. Stop at Rita's on your way and enjoy a treat while enjoying mother nature. If you don't like walking or running in the sun this is the trail for you, because it's through the woods.

This is a wonderful trail for a myriad of activities. You will see runners, people walking dogs or riding bikes with kids, even people fishing. Very quiet and peaceful. We use it all 4 seasons though it does not get cleared or plowed when it snows so be warned and wear boots or yaktrax.

This has become my favorite place to walk. It's mostly shaded and it's pretty flat. Not to many inclines. I start at Beaver Place and walk out to Rt 642 and back, it's 3.2 miles

Wonderful! The trails are beautifully kept and well marked. Great picnic area including restrooms and a pavilion with electricity.

We walk here often with our dog. Other than sometimes feeling crowded out by bikes and runners, and needing to be vigilant for ticks, it's a nice trail. Peaceful and pretty.

I believe this is the oldest rails to trails in the US. It's a great place to take an easy bike ride or run!
