My day learning to tree climb was a dream come true. When we first arrived in the slight drizzle of an overcast day, coffee in hand, I didn't know what to expect. I watched as Leo, our guide, took everyone through the steps of pulling yourself up a tree and rappelling down safely and efficiently. I felt comfortable in the gear provided as I made my way up the trunk as we practiced. Little did I know, we were only using this first tree for training. After we were all adjusted to the technique, we strolled through the beautiful growth of Silver Falls State Park. Leo was insightful about the trees and the land. He shared lots of great knowledge with all the guests as we approached our main ascent... A GIANT old growth tree in the middle of the park. Where I was unsure about climbing hundreds of feet into the air at first, I felt supported by the staff and other adventurers and pushed through. I'm glad I did. We made our way above all other trees and through the sky as the clouds opened up. I have never seen such a view that I worked for and now have many of the skills to do this again! I felt like I was bonding with the people around as I grinned my way through the branches. This is an opportunity you won't get anywhere else. Take it!

I went on the overnight adventure with a friend to celebrate my birthday and it was just amazing. Highly recommend. Leo (our guide) was the best mix of being open to conversation and questions, and also allowing us to be quiet and just bask in the views. The sunset was incredible! The Perseid meteor shower was happening and we saw shooting stars with an almost unobstructed view. It was so quiet, I slept really well in the hammock (it helped having slept in my own many times before), especially with the under-quilt provided for warmth. I wish we had taken more time to appreciate the tree after we came down, because it was the star of the show! The hardest part was hiking to the tree - it's over a mile walk, uphill, with backpacks, and the second hardest part was hauling the backpack up, so if you aren't into that, skip the overnight and just come for the sunset (ie: no backpack).

Thank you for sharing your incredible experience with us! We’re delighted that you chose to celebrate your birthday with our overnight tree climbing adventure at Silver Falls State Park. Watching the sunset and the Perseid meteor shower was truly magical even for us, great choice!! we're glad you had such an unobstructed view of the shooting stars too. It’s great to hear that you slept well in the hammock and that the under-quilt provided the necessary warmth. We appreciate your feedback about the hike and backpack haul. It’s true that the trek can be challenging, but we’re happy to hear that it was worth it for the stunning experience. For those less inclined to hike with a backpack, your suggestion to come just for the sunset is spot on or we are also happy to help haul equipment as needed too. Thank you again for your detailed review and recommendation. We hope to welcome you back for another adventure soon!

Climbing trees in the Silver Falls rainforest was a peak experience for my wife and me. Brennen is the consummate tree guide. He quickly taught us the ropes and brought us to a 250ft tree to climb. Up we went, trusting the gear and improving our skill. The wind through the tops of the trees was amazing! Our next tree was 300ft and up on a ridge. We didn't think we could make it but the higher we got the more confident we became. We climbed some of the topmost branches, and watched the sun set over distant mountains with nothing but treetops in between. We rappelled down the tree in the dark. Our UV headlamps revealed blue, green, and red phosphorescent lichens in the bark. Too soon we returned to the ground, not believing the fantastic vertical trip we just had the great honor to take. AdventureTerra is a superb outfit. The instruction is expert. The quality equipment inspires confidence. This is a doable, euphoria-producing challenge. Don't miss it!

I had an amazing experience tree climbing with Leo as my guide. It rained during the entire experience, but that just added a sense of adventure to the climb. It's much drier next to the tree so don't be put off by a little rain!

Leo is an amazing instructor. It's super easy to learn from him, and he checks in every step of the way and comes up with ideas for how to make the experience even better.

I'm afraid of heights, and at first I couldn't let go of holding on to the rope for dear life, which doesn't actually do anything because the equipment is so safe. Leo taught me how to get comfortable trusting the equipment at lower heights and then progressively more and more, and it worked! More so, at the top when you look down, the branches cover how high you are, so you don't feel the height as much up there.

It's an incredible view the whole way up any way you look, it changes and there's something new to discover the whole time. At the bottom it's more starting to see the tops of nearby trees, and at the top it's seeing further out the entire forest. Because it was raining, it was also misty that day as we looked out, which just added to the magic of the scenery.

I found the climb slightly strenuous, but not too much. Felt like I got a whole body exercise. Clothes really do get dirty FYI.

Leo also gave me a ride from Portland, and stuck around for me to do a hike, which is just above and beyond, and I'm so grateful.

This was an incredible experience for my family. Tim was a great guide who shared knowledge about the trees and forest and helped my girls (10 and 12) be successful. This is hard work, so come prepared to be tired and sore at the end. Very worth it!

This was a day to be remembered. We did the half day climb at the Silver Falls location. Never did I think I'd be able to climb one of the world's tallest and oldest trees (300' tall and >500 years old)! Leo's a thorough instructor (and a great human at that), so while the climbing involves learning how to use new equipment, I felt capable and safe by the time we begun ascending.

It's an intimate and adventurous way to get in touch with nature. I'll definitely be doing this again soon!

I LOVED this adventure! Our instructor, Leo, was knowledgeable and fun, and he did a great job helping us be comfortable using the equipment (even though I have very little climbing experience). The hike was lovely, and the climb was one of the most unique adventures I’ve ever had. I enjoyed the physical challenge and thought the instructor did a great job meeting each participant where they were at. It was rainy so we didn’t get to see a sunset, but the view from the top was worth it regardless. I definitely recommend this activity and hope to do it again!

Hope this unique adventure will be something you will never forget! I will work on my sun dance next time for clearer skies for you all. It was great sharing this experience with you! Let your friends and family know that this adventure exists! You are the rare .001% of the population who has climbed an old-growth tree!

Leo is an amazing guide! We went out with a group of 5 and climbed almost 300ft up two trees. He was so patient and made sure to check in with each of us during the climbs. I was pretty nervous to be so high up but it was a phenomenal trip. Leo really knows his stuff & we learned a lot about trees with a unique view of the forest.

I highly recommend this experience to people of all ages. Upon arrival I was feeling nervous about climbing up that high, but the instructor, Leo, quickly made me feel comfortable and safe. This is something I never saw myself being able to do and now I am preparing to go a second time. The view of the forest from the top of the tree is unlike anything I’ve experienced before and I never wanted to come back down!
