There is ample parking, but gets filled up quickly on weekends: A lot of families with kids. Visitor Center is closed, but very clean restrooms are accessible. Many trails - some short, some long, some flat, some with gradient. Natural setting, but didn't see any wildlife. Worth the visit.

Chill out in a forest, far from the maddening crowd. Short hikes over creeks, bridges and just drink in the fresh air. This is a revitalizing place. Equestrian and biking trails are separate from hiking trails. Paved trails too for chairs. Pets on a leash only. Friendly volunteers staff the Nature Center. Pick up an excellent free map, clearly marking the well-kept trails. Entrance on Terwilliger Blvd.

I was running with my dog this morning in Tryon state park when I realized someone was chasing me. I thought maybe I was mistaken since it was the middle of the day, so I ran a little faster. When I looked back, I saw that a man dressed in all black was definitely chasing and now gaining on me. He then started yelling at me. I stopped and he continued going off on me because evidently I had gone down a private trail. Completely terrified I apologized for not seeing the sign and told him I would never go down it again. He then said that the manager doesn’t react kindly to people going down that trail and threatened to cite me.
Anyways, I was shook for the rest of the morning from being pursued and threatened by a park employee. The people that work this park are inappropriately mean and I suggest staying away from them whenever possible. Otherwise it’s an ok place.

We love this park. Such a blessing to have a protected natural area in SW Portland. Remember to keep dogs on a leash.

Lots of hiking trails and lots of trilliums end of March. They have a large day lodge with all the information of how they made coal fom wood. One hike goes clear down to Willamette River. I have only been their once and ne d to go more. They have a kids learning area in lodge too.

The park is lush forest with great walking trails. This is the closest to a mature old growth forest you need to get. Spring/early summer, is the best when the Triliums are in bloom.

Enjoy a nice walk in the forest with excellent signage to guide you. Great place for deep thinking or just breathe deeply and fall in love with life again. Some trails are for hikers and the Nature Center has a free one page trail map, clearly marking distance and trail names. Other trails are clearly marked Equestrian. It's a lovely, short drive from downtown on Terwilliger Blvd. Go, you won't be sorry. Also, it's a state park (free admission & parking).

Next to Powell;s Books, this might be the mist unique and valuable place in Portland.
There are miles of paths, the longest over 3 miles on one loop.
There are paths for people, with or without dogs, bikes, and horses.
Going on a path allows you to disappear into forest one would expect at a coastal hiking path.
When I arrived at 7:45 am on a Saturday, the ranger was cleaning the front porch and sidewalk. The entire place is immaculately well kept.
If you are head out to the coast,consider stopping at Fort Stevens State Park that has weekly bird tours, daily kayak tours, junior ranger sessions in the summer, bike rentals, clamming, beaching, hiking...
Connected to Fort Stevens State Park is Historic Fort Stevens museum and gift shop. Although moderate sized, both are very nice. The museum also hosts a ticketed truck (army personnel carrier) tour and a ticketed tour of the military installations and a ticketed walking tour of a massive underground artillery bunker.

This small State Park is in the hills on the SW edge of the city (near Lewis and Clark College) and has extensive trails, a Nature Center, some Old Growth timber(believe it or not!) and is accessible by bike path (or bike lanes) from downtown Portland.

Tryon Creek State Park is one of our favorite close, regular getaways from life in the city. Located about fifteen minutes from our house, this hidden gem is simply amazing. There are miles of lovely, groomed trails going deep into the forest. The scenery, the beauty, the wildlife and 'freshness' of the park is so healing and so relaxing.
We like to walk our three well-behaved doggies on the trials. They find it to be quite thrilling, thanks to the sights, sounds and smells. As we meet other dogs on the trail we find that other hikers are very courteous with their dogs too, and manners prevail in order for all to have a lovely time.
You can take several trials, many people jog, may walk - whatever suits your pleasure. Just be sure to notice the beauty, look for animals, and enjoy the serenity this park provides for you. It is such a wonderful escape.
Be aware they are improving the parking area right now (7-16), so parking is a premium. But if you find a bit of patience you can usually snag a spot within 10 minutes; people are coming and going. Grab a water to take on the trail, some are mildly challenging.
Most important, realize how lucky we are to have this magnificent park in our city. Please put this on your list and explore, you will love it and come away with a very peaceful and relaxed mood. Cheers!

Is there any short hike for this, which will require minimum walking...even enjoying the nature at same time?

All of the trails are short with ease of walking. The trails are fine for even electric wheelchairs-- to some degree.
