The history of these homes "castles" is wonderful. The antique furniture and memorabilia take you back in time. I wouldn't have thought my two young Grand kids would have enjoyed it but they did and wanted to go back again this year, go figure!?

Large homes, not castles, in total disrepair. I'm sure there has been enough revenue in the past years to keep these homes up and yet totally neglected. Shameful. Admission to see the homes as they are now is a total ripoff. Peek you head in...More

I saw the two homes as part of a trip from Cincinnati. We started by seeing a savings and loan in Sidney that was designed by Louis Sullivan, then went to the Holland theater, and finished up the day with the Piatt castles. Mac o...More

We recently toured both castles for the first time. It was raining so we didn't walk around outdoors at all. Mac o cheek is the one that has been restored the most and contains furnishings in most all rooms open for viewing. It is dark...More

My wife decided that these two old farm-castles would make a good adventure on an otherwise lazy Labor Day, and so we took the pleasant hour drive to West Liberty and learned a few things. What are they doing wrong? Well, the main issue is...More

This is the Mac O Chee Castle. It is in need of repair as the roof is leaking. The rooms are spacious and the wood work beautiful. The murals on the ceilings and walls are getting ruined from the weather. There are some family pieces...More

We stopped at both castles after we toured the caverns...did not pay to do the tour but walking the grounds of each was just as delightful. The kids were more content looking at everything outside so they could look at the castle. Will be going...More

Decided to take a tour after driving past the estate after the Ohio Cavern tour. The "Castle" estate was very beautiful, but definitely needed a bit more cleaning up. Cobwebs on the upper levels of the estate ceiling and walls gave it a more haunted...More

The history and architecture of the homes is interesting but calling them castles is quite a stretch! One is in better shape than the other and that is an understatement. Perhaps they should finish restoration with the the second house before showing it. It needs...More

5 stars for the history, 4 stars for the lack of upkeep. This was my 2nd time touring the castles. A lot of interesting things to read on the self guided tour about the area, family and brothers. When I went, there was a leak...More

This self guided tour through two castles was very interesting. The larger one is in disrepair, which makes it even more interesting. You can see what time and weather does over many time periods because the renovations over the years provide a time capsule. Although...More

Both castles are about one mile apart. One is in better shape than the other. But you need to go see them. It's astonishing that something so unique is here in Ohio & not that far from Columbus. Inlaid floors, great antiques, Super design, hand...More

Both castles are $25. Just one is $15. Both are great to see just 1/4 mile from each other with wonderful hosts to tell you the history of each castle.
