We had a remarkable tour given by Howard Mcclain. Howard knows the history and how courageous people believed in the right for slaves to escape.Wonderful to see the Rankin house and know it is cared for.

Recently visited this historic site. Tours run on the hour. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant. Tour lasts about 45 minutes. $5 for adults. Beautiful, new, visitor center. I recommend you read some history on the the impact John Turner made on humanity...More

There has been extensive restoration done to the John Rankin House since our last visit a few years ago. They have restored the walls to look like the original paint and all the furniture and furnishings are true to the time the Rankins lived there....More

The Rankin House and the Visitor Center are both handicapped accessible. However, the historic home has a 2nd story that is only accessible via the stairway.

The Rankin House is open Wednesday-Sunday beginning on the first Wednesday in April through October 31st. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
