this place is always an idea place to stop for a lunch break. Calm, relaxing and loads of wildlife to see. Buzzards and woodpeckers making a racket..... wonderful. Also bins are provided in the car park so sandwich wrappers aren't a problem. lol

Good for a dog walk. A bit tricky to find but then you have a free parking. Not too large and you can find some nice views to take photos.

I often stop off here to eat my lunch if I'm working locally as it's a very pleasant are to sit but I do have to remember whether I have my ladders on the roof as there is a 2.1m height restriction at the entrance.

It's the kind of place where you can enjoy weather, all of it. You don't even mind a downpour. Leave the urban sprawl completely behind. Even the M6 doesn't seem to intrude. Finish with a drink in front of the fire at the harvested.

Very nice stroll around this Reserve. Pick your days because can get quite boggy and wet (understandably) but, when warm and dry, a lovely spot.

To be honest I find this nature reserve uninviting. The Wild Life Trust could do a lot more with the site. For example create a walk way to the river and put a bird hide down there as well, and have leaflets or information boards...More
