If the Marsden Grotto pub is shut then you have a long descent down the stairs to the actual beach but once there you will find ( depending on tide) a lovely uncluttered sand and rocky paradise. The beach leads onto the famous Grotto pub...More

Rugged part of the coast. Been visiting here for almost 50 years. Every visit there are increased numbers of pebbles which makes walking on most of this beach increasingly difficult. Fantastic scenery especially at Marsden Rock which is an iconic landmark.

Nice little walk with the kids, often visit solo for a walk on my own. And the grotto is a lovely little pub/restaurant.

Lots of people walking their dogs but still peaceful. Beautiful day for a lovely stroll along the beach finished off by a minchella ice cream.

Yup Colmans is the best, there are several seafront pubs at Shields where you can sit at outside tables and your dog will be happy. Some beach restrictions of course.
