Not in the scale or style of some of the huge WW1 Italian Cemetries - but worth a visit to pay respects nonetheless.....
I always feel a little uneasy that the Polish and Commonwealth Memorials and Cemetries get a lot of attention and the Italian and German (There is no Trip Advisor Entry for the German one) are almost ignored. Although not on the same scale as Fogliano Redipuglia or the huge WW1 memorials this cemetry stands as testament for the Italians who lost their lives fighting against the Germans following Italys changing of sides in WW2. As solemn and as moving as the other cemetries around Cassino the cemetry sits across the road from a small military museum. Outside there is a Sherman Tank and a Tank destroyer and some artillery. Not a wonderfull museum in its own right when combined with the cemetery this is a site which deserves more attention, if only to pay due respects to the Italian Soldiers who lie here. Certainly worth a visit while touring the Monte Cassino battlefields.…
