This large imposing church, is reputed to be beautiful inside, a shame you cannot get in to see it !
As with other churches .....locked up.
It’s a shame these churches can’t be allocated a few hours a week for visitors.
Well worth walking down to just to see the Almshouses that are adjacent.

This Victorian Church is full of High Church of England Art and Architecture. Its the main Establishment Church in Abingdon by The River. It contains The Tomb of John Royce Mercer,Founder of Abingdon School in 1563.
The Church regularly hosts School Events and Services.
Inside the Church is staffed by elderly meeters & greeters who on most days are only too eager to welcome you to the surroundings and offer you various articles such as 50p guide sheets etc on sale.
The local Verger or Vicar is extremely helpful and friendly.
Sunday Services can be heard from the open main door on A Sunday and High Church Communion appears to be taking place.
A rather old fashioned church in The High Victorian Tradition ,might be a tad off putting for some.
The nearby Graveyard contains Almshouses.
Benches by The River Thames allow one to watch boats and swans.
The Bells too are rung.

Lovely church with a very different layout. Interesting paintings and stories shared by the lovely gentleman we met inside. Obviously a church with a good supportive congregation

Olde England at its most charming. The church is in the midst of historic houses and bordered by 3 amazing alms houses and the river Thames. A pretty spot and an enjoyable stroll from several town car parks.
Inside the church is unusually wide with interesting memorials and an incredible 14th century painted ceiling.
Guides helpful and welcoming. Check opening times before you make a visit.

While walking around Abingdon, we came across this nice looking Church. we could not get in, do not know why. If you are around Abingdon, it is great to have a look at this wonderful town.

Beautiful stained glass window of St Helen. The ladies attending are very helpful and knowledgable. I went to find out about my family history and was amazed by the church and area.

This is a stunning church and should not be missed. The stained glass is lovely, acoustics are great and it’s been here since 995. We spoke with a local who said they have concerts here are regret we did not time our visit to suit.

This church is unusual in the it is wider than it is long. It is said that Cromwell used the church to stable his horses in. There are some lovely stain glass windows and some interesting painted ceiling panels near the alter.

This is an interesting country church.
It has an unusual "candelabra" in the main part of the church.
Has a warm feeling about it.
