About
Kimber House is home to the MG Car Club - formed by the MG factory in 1930. We're the original club for MG owners, based in Abingdon and catering for all MG models. At the Club's home in Abingdon, we have various artefacts on show - from small MG models, and factory signs, to original 1930s documents and a fully restored engine. If you're in the area, come down and explore the world of MG!

Wonderful to "call in" and immediately feel at home. Spent time enjoying memorabilia and the history we know well being MG buffs. Don't forget to sign the visitors book....

What a history lesson you'll have, when you visit this "shrine" to all things MG! The staff are pleasant and knowledgeable, and willing to tell (all who wish to "listen and learn") about this remarkable vehicle and its founders. There is a library of MG & BCM Comps Dept. books, an archive of more than 10,000 photos, and lots of items for sale (badges, clothing, books, etc.

First up i am not a MG owner & this will not interest everyone but if you like all thing associated with automobiles, especially vintage ones this will interest you, if you are an MG enthusiast you will love the place.
situated down the end of a small lane this is a small museum located right next to where they used to produce the MG. there is no cost to enter & the lady who answered the door was not only well informed in all thing MG she was friendly & very helpful.
A small museum with a small but interesting display, dont a expect a huge display of cars, this is mostly bits & pieces from the factory & even more interesting the large collection of productions records they hold on the site.
if you allow about 1 hour that should be plenty & worth the visit for MG owners & for any vintage car lover

Marvellous to see all the Vintage Mgs assembled for a Rally the other day in Abingdon Market Square.
A trip back down memory Lane.
Classic Styling and Modest Looks.
Back in The Day when Abingdon actually had Car Factory Employment
one rememebrs the droves of MG workers on bicycles coming and going with their packed lunches in an aold gas mask case slung round their grubby overalls.
Ah the days when the working class in Abingdon actually worked-and for a good wage-instead of so many of them and their offspring subsisiting on benefits or being a nuisance and vandalising the town..!
There was a wide range of MG models at the Market Square event we only discovered it was taking place on a chance stroll downtown.
The rightly proud owners felt a bit 'cliquey'but no matter we werent expecting a free spin!
MG is world famous.
Dont miss the little memorial park on the corner of Ock Street & Drayton Road commerating the MG Factory before it was all demolished to nake way for Fairacres Industrial estate.
It has some seats and picture boards on the former factory though is outdoors
with year round free access.

We visited recently and were made most welcome and shown around by the knowledgeable staff, this despite not being members of the club.
There were two lovely cars on display, in addition to those in the car park which are no doubt owned by the staff! One was an MGBGT and as I own one myself I had an odd question about it which was answered with ease, much to my surprise.
Kimber House is adjacent to the site of the MG factory, now mainly a housing estate although the Admin block survives since it has been converted to flats.
As well as many interesting items on display, there is also a good shop which sells all sorts of books and souvenirs.
Make a point of visiting the nearby MG garden which also has some interesting displays, the staff will give you directions.
I can also recommend the town museum which has its own MG display.

Dropped in with our MGB and were greeted at the door, personally shown round and provided with a coffee and biscuit (offered but not accepted so cannot review in detail !)
Really excellent, no sales pitch, no charges, just really helpful.
We left the car for a few hours and walked into Abingdon too. Really could not have been more friendly.

Ineke’s enthusiasm for MG’s history and her help in showing me archive materials related to my MGA really made my day when I called in recently. I was so impressed I joined the MGCC at the end of my visit - very well worth a look in if you’ve been bitten by the MG bug....

Kimber House is one of the places to visit if you are a member of the MG family . A welcoming team , lots of history and a MG shop all make this a must be stop if you are visiting Abingdon . You dont have to be a classic car fanatic to appreciate the thrills .

This is the home of the MG Car Club, first started by the factory in the 30's and has been supporting it's members ever since. The building is on the edge of what was the old factory and the lane up can be seen in some period photos. Essentially it is the club office but also houses the archive and shop. Great to have a look around the shop, you will come away with something! If you take your Abingdon built MG, you could follow one of the factory test routes and stop at one of the many country pubs for lunch to round off the day.
