The incredible Royal Border Bridge has to be one of the most impressive constructions of the pre-modern period. Spanning an incredible 659 metres over the land and the River Tweed and still carries trains as part of the Eastern Line.

Great engineering achievement stretching over the river Tweed overlooking the harbour and river. All trains North and South pass this way.

A great feat of engineering and the best view is from the quay side car park which is free. Great views of the river and harbour.

Beautiful reflected in the Tweed at dusk. Built by Stephenson for the railway imposingly simple and awe inspiring. Wonderful viewed from all angles but especially from Castle Vale Park.

Viewed from the riverside walk below, this is a very impressive structure indeed with many arches although geographically still in England. Scotland starts a mile up the road.

The last time I passed this way was fifty years ago and how things have changed, yet still the bridges have an endearing quality worthy of a stop and look.

We visited Berwick on Tweed & sat by the river. Its a great view looking at the 3 bridges. This is the bridge that carries the trains.

We visited Berwick upon Tweed and took the opportunity to view the bridge. It is a great landmark and a great testament to when it was constructed, that it is still there and in constant use.
