Overview
More
Bailiffgate Museum and Gallery is an award-winning people’s Museum run by volunteers, where fascinating stories of the past are told about the town and district of Alnwick. Recently receiving a £300,000 update, the Museum is housed in what was previously a church close to Alnwick Castle. It has been recognised as one of the 25 best places in the country for early years children to visit. Great for families there is lots to enjoy for adults too, detailing the stunning county and characters of Northumberland. Bailiffgate is an independent Museum and depends on the modest admission charges that it charges for adults, plus any donations and grants we might receive. Children under 16 are admitted free with a voucher downloadable from the museum website.

This is a good hands on place for children. As a pair of seniors, we didn't feel there was a great deal to see. Staff very nice though.More

Allandot I hope that you saw and enjoyed all the old toys that you may have had as a child ! In our survey run through local care homes we had contributions to our "favourite toy" wallchart from residents born in the 1910's. From visitors...More

A delightful small museum with something for the whole family! On a rainy day in Alnwick it was a welcome distraction. Lots of interesting local history, suitable for children with lots of interactive displays. And very friendly and welcoming staff!

This museum is well worth a visit if you're in Alnwick - and it's very reasonably priced. It's not a huge museum so there's no overkill re the information on hand. It's all extremely well laid out [in a lovely old church] and there are...More

Hello - we are dog friendly and am happy for people to bring their dogs into the museum as long as they are well behaved, toilet trained and on a lead.
