A great hike which is accessible from Clapham and Austwick and can be done as a circular walk from either location. Great views of the surrounding countryside from the plateau and the rock formations are a sight to see.

The hillside is strewn with massive boulders from the ice age. Took a while to walk there but the views are worth the climb. Not suitable for anyone with walking disabilities as the paths are quite rough as is the climb.

Every geographer has read about them, seen the pictures, but we wanted to actually visit. :) might come back next year.

This is a great walk with fantastic views. You can make it as hard or as easy as you like there are many different ways to go. It’s a very strange site seeing the rocks balanced on the hillside. Get up there take a picnic...More

Lovely walk which passed by the Norbert erratics. Stunning views, plenty of scenery, away from the crowds. Austwick, Clapham and Feizor are all a stones throw away and have places to get food and drink.

We consider ourselves ramblers rather than hikers, this walk is achievable for moderate fitness walkers like me, well worth the effort for the views

In a heavy blizzard very different from the last summers Day visit. Always interesting. Few people about today.

Well worth the steeply uphill walk from the centre of Austwick, but if any of your party are less mobile, old etc forget it. Some folk try to park up the lane nearer the rocks, but this is a bad idea as there are at...More

On a lovely Dales walk from the Yorkshire village of Austwick some amazing boulders come into view. I think the correct terminology is 'geomorphological' features from the glaciation period in the North of England. Big boulders are perched on pedestals of limestone. Quirky and definitely...More

We often start the day at Clapham or Austwick and do a 4 to 5 mile walk, if you wanted to set off from Settle it’s pleasant over fields and rough track and can take in Oxeber Woods and Wharf, but it would add on another 4... More
