What a little gem 💎
It needs some updating but so much potential. The upstairs was closed due to a leaking roof. Hope to revisit when it’s repaired.

Chock-a-block with Margate memorabilia. Roy became our own personal guide through the old cells and display rooms downstairs. Upstairs there was more to see in the old court house. The entrance fee of two quid was a bargain.

Needs updating. There are displays featuring “blackface”, and no attempt to explain the context or provide explanation of the offensiveness. “Minstrels” and Punch and Judy characters should no longer be displayed like this as if they are acceptable

Only open at the weekend, which was a disappointment.
Check the limited opening hours before you go.

Adorable. A vast collection of information and exhibits on Margate. All on a building which holds so much history in itself. Well worth the £2 entrance fee.

If you're spending longer than 1 day in Margate, you might wanna visit this museum. Worth doing something different when you're tired of spending all days on the beach.

Only £2 to enter and well worth the visit! The people running ot are very helpful and knowledgeable about Margate's history. Alot to read so make sure you give it at least 2 hours.
Not 5 stars because it was a bit cold inside - but I expect they cannot afford the high energy costs we have in the UK at present.

What a fantastic find! Best £2 you can spend in Margate. Horacio had some amazing knowledge and awfully wonderful jokes (true dad jokes) but is brimming with fantastic knowledge. We also had a fantastic chat with Roy who filled us in with all the Margate history and really engaging.
Really worth a visit and thank Roy and Horacio for spending so much time with us.

What a delight from start to our two hour end! We came across this whilst wandering around Margate. (Visited the Turner gallery and was not impressed). Two hours an £2 later we left fulfilled. It had lots of artefacts and ephemera and even some bones. What made the visit so great and interesting was a chap named Horacio. Yes with a C not a T. He was interesting and interested; he was funny; he was knowledge and he was grateful we walked through the door! Yes visit Turner but I assure the reader of this review will be surprised as to what is inside this very museum. It took that long because we didn't want to stop listening to Horacio!

Despite visiting Margate many times in my life I didn’t know this little gem was here! There are many interesting artefacts, photos and hidden gems and we learned so much from the wonderful Horacio who guided us around the magistrate’s court in the upstairs section of the museum.
It’s an eclectic collection but a real bargain for £2 per person. We visited on the day of the Carnival and the Soul Festival and it was good to see it becoming busier through the afternoon.

Meaningless question with regards to the Museum. Still, what do you expect from a Ramsgatonian?
