We visited the Star in December 2021 to meet friends who live locally. The pub is conveniently located in Ryde High Street and also close to the bus stops in George Street.

The pub is furnished in a quirky theme which seems to try to give the impression of a continental cafe. We sat down the bottom end, at the end of the bar. There was only one real ale on but this was tasty and well kept (a Sharps Special ale); I had expected more given the pub’s title of ‘Ale House’. There is a full bar with a wide variety of lagers and spirits as well as bar snacks. The staff and landlord were friendly and approachable and nothing was too much trouble.

The gents toilet cubicle was possibly the smallest and coldest toilet I have ever been in, plus the door did not shut properly.

Overall however, the visit was enjoyable and I would return.

We were looking for somewhere to stop for a hot drink as it was freezing and windy, this pub was lovely Rob served us and sat us by the fire, the hot chocolate was very nice and hit and we soon warmed up we didn't want leave, Rob chatted to us and was very welcoming, thank you for warming us up and cheering us up, we will definitely come back when we next visit the island next year

Lovely beer and great low key atmosphere. A real gem of a pub. I was only here visiting but I wish this pub was in my home town.

This coffee house and pub was a real treat in Ryde. It is under new management and they have taken great effort on the decor which is very stylish and great music. The owner is very experienced and friendly and welcomes old and young and is dog friendly. He is determined to keep it a safe venue and closes at around 9pm to avoid late night drinkers so no trouble. The have a Monday morning coffee/tea session where locals can meet other locals. They do not do a full menu yet but they do offer paninis and snacks. It’s on the High Street and just round the corner from the cinema. My wife and I will certainly be using it regularly.

Called in three times for coffee and a panini . The surroundings were lovely and relaxing. Was the perfect place to sit and watch the world go by despite being on a busy street. The hosts were perfect and the food was lovely. Will definately be visiting again soon.

Lovely bar with good quality beer and great G&T's. Very pleasant host. Decor fun and cool. Shall definitely return. Also a convenient stop for coffee and cake. Perfect too for before/after cinema drinks.

Visited the pub twice whilst staying at an apartment across the road on a visit to the Isle of Wight . Would thoroughly recommend for the drinks selection, bagels, paninis and coffees . Very friendly landlord, great decor and cosy open fire. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Ryde.

Very nice cafe / bar / pub. Reopened in June 2021. Good real ales, friendly staff, lovely relaxed atmosphere, good decor with lots of plants and some quirky features. No loud music. Ideal for coffee, snacks or drinks. Open 9 - 9.
