We were blessed with beautiful weather when we visited this Historic Hamlet. Lots to see and do and excellent well signposted walks.

Payment
May 2021
Visited many years ago and went back for old times sake, to be greeted by a payment system, just to get in. No thanks.

We’re sorry to hear you were disappointed with your return visit to Buckler’s Hard. The grounds of Buckler's Hard village are free to enter, but we do charge a parking fee for those arriving by vehicle, which helps us maintain this heritage site and enables us to look after it for future generations to enjoy.

85 shipwrights cottage Buckler’s Hard

Lovely location.
Unfortunately the cottage was not the same.
You can see daylight all around the front door.
Lounge smelled stale and damp. Paint flaking off the walls.
Dining room window was dirty and cobwebs, window catches need to be replaced as window would not stay open on the catch as it was broken, could not shut the door from the dining room to the porch.
Back door has a big enough gap at the bottom to let in all sorts of creatures in.
Bathroom needs to be completely renewed, radiator did not work.
Bedrooms, could not shut the doors, the latch has been painted in one position and can not be moved.
No security keys for locked windows.
Kitchen was not clean, oven was dirty from previous people.
Barbecue was not clean, could not use garden furniture as was dirty, nothing in the cottage for us to be able to clean it, such as bucket, bowl or cloths
There was no dustpan and brush,no vacuum cleaner.
When questioned about it, Covid was the excuse, which I thought was nonsense, as I thought it was ideal time for them to refresh the cottage.
Generally the cottage was grubby.
Over priced and will not be returning

Hi Sheila. We’re glad you enjoyed the beautiful surroundings of Buckler’s Hard. The holiday cottages on the high street are managed by the team at The Master Builder’s House Hotel, which is a separately run business, so we’ve passed your feedback on to them. You may also wish to give them your feedback directly.

Pretty but a little expensive
May 2021 • Solo
The views were simply breathtaking and was worth a visit when you are in the area and is close to everything. However £5 parking is quite expensive especially at the moment when all indoor attractions are shut.

Nice walk from Beaulieu
Apr 2021 • Couples
Beautiful old place on the water, with lots if ship-building history and a small museum. A nice pub with plenty of outside seating available. Riverside walk from Beaulieu closed temporarily, but still trails available to walk.

Nice place to end our weekend away!
Dec 2020
We went to the New Forest for a 50th and 60th weekend break, staying at Careys Manor and Senspa - highly recommended. On our way home to Suffolk we passed Buckler's Hard and had a lovely walk down to the marina. Sadly due to Covid the museum was closed but it was still nice to end our weekend break with the calm of the boats on the river.

Great Place to Visit for a Relaxing Break.
Nov 2020
The area is outstanding. We went to the Museum that was well laid out and full of information on the Yard and the ship building. Has nice models and room laid out with great stuff to look at. Has Old Pub and a Cottage room built in what was their original location. You can spend as much time as you like and do the walk to Beaulieu as well.
I would recommend a visit. Go in the summer and take a picnic.
