Curries
Jul 2021
Fabulous day spent in the cookery school on 21/07/21 making curries of the world. Steve Bulmer , the chef and his team of Jan and Polly couldn't be faulted in any way and always on hand to help and clear up after you. Steve was full of hints and tips and made you feel at ease all the way through, no question was ever deemed too silly to be answered. This course is suitable for all levels of cookery expertise and I would thoroughly recommend it or any other courses that are available that you may fancy.

Disappointing
Jul 2021 • Couples
Service was slow, our pizza wasn’t cooked through food looked great but when consumed it didn’t match the expectations. When food was returned to the kitchen maybe review /chat out of sight of the guest We didn’t leave with a welcome warm feeling that chewton Glen usually provides. We found conversations by staff with guests staying at the hotel was priority. Very disappointed

Top Job - The Kitchen Cookery School
Jun 2021 • Solo
Attended an Italian Cooking course led by Chef Steve Bulmer. It was an excellent 4 hours. Entertaining, insightful, fun & educational. Really enjoyed this experience. Steve was superbly assisted by Polly who helped us all get organised. Well done The Kitchen. I’ll be back.

Tuesday lunch
Jun 2021 • Couples
This was our first visit to the Kitchen as we usually eat in the Dining Room in the main hotel. We had the plaice and hot pot followed by each of us having the bread and butter pudding. I was confused about the invisible chips and still expected chips with a donation to charity - we did get a pot of chips but had to pay for them. I had a small glass of Sauvignon blanc and my fiancé had orange juice and lemonade. The bill came to £97. 90 with 10% service charge. The food was OK but not outstanding but the young yuppy staff were excellent in their attitude even although we had to wait 45 minutes for the food to arrive - perhaps some nibbles could have been offered to fill the time. Ali was particularly friendly and helpful. The outside dining under the large gazebo was a good idea for fresh air with COVID and the staff put the heaters on. It was explained that now the dining capacity has been dramatically increased the kitchen size is just the same. It would be useful to be told in advance how long the wait would be for different courses. The desserts arrived very quickly after we placed our order. We will visit again and try different dishes.

Lovely Evening
Jun 2021 • Friends
A great evening visit, very quiet because of the football! Food was yummy and service was fantastic, especially friendly and accommodating from Alice and Lauren the lovely waitresses on shift this evening, we are actually returning in the morning for a cookery course in the morning and cannot wait!!
I have to say though hospitality staff are very hard to come by at the moment as we very much know and these two young girls are an absolute accolade to The Kitchen, thank you and we will return and recommend!

Pasta Pronto
Jun 2021 • Solo
I was booked onto the Pasta pronto course earlier this week as a birthday gift, and what a fantastic day it was. Steve Bulmer ran the course, and his depth of knowledge and experience came through from the minute we started. As he was ably guiding us through the pasta making process he was throwing in tidbits of wisdom on how to do things better or make things easier. He made sure that everyone was at the right stage in the process, resolving issues and answering questions along the way. Steve’s light hearted approach made for a relaxed and enjoyable learning environment, where people felt able to ask questions when they weren’t sure of something.
Throughout the session Steve was assisted by Polly, who worked like a trooper in the background all day, getting everything ready, making sure that people’s stations were set for the next stage, and clearing up after us all. She made sure we were all ok, and gently encouraged us all along the way. It was evident that Steve and Polly are a really great team that are passionate about what they do. I came away from the day with my head bursting with information, a desire to get home and practice my new found skills, and a confidence that I could pull off some of the amazing Pasta feats that I’d learnt...who knew that I could make a really great looking and fantastic tasting Tortoloni?! Thanks guys for a great day!

Birthday occasion
Jun 2021
Yesterday 26th June was my third visit to The Kitchen and as on previous two occasions I was not disappointed. The welcoming as usual was second to none by Gabriel the Hungarian restaurant manager. It is great to be recognised, he showed us to the table and as was my host 90th birthday we were complimented a glass of champagne. As for the meal, this time I had their Burger (just delicious) even if, because of its size, I couldn’t finished. My fellow diners also were very satisfied with their choices steak, fish and chips and a pizza. We were looked after by a super young lady, Kate, that despite the face mask we could denote her smile a sign that obviously enjoyed looking after her guest and nothing was too much whatever we asked.

No Smoke Without Fire BBQ Cookery Course
Jun 2021
I visited the cookery school with my husband. The course was delivered by Steve Bulmer who showed us a number of very interesting things to do on the BBQ that I would never imagined before including a couple of wonderful dessert dishes. We prepared the food ourselves and also ate the cooked dishes. Steve was assisted by Polly who was excellent during the day keeping us clean and tidy. An excellent Christmas present!
