Overview
More
Aquaworld - Crete's first Aquarium - opened in Hersonissos in 1995 - near Bus Stop 20. It features local sea life and reptiles from Crete and from all around the world. Most of the animals are rescued or are unwanted pets which have found a new home at Aquaworld. Our philosophy is simple - bring people and animals closer together and, inevitably, people will begin to respect and care more about the animals!

The staff was very friendly, helpful and great sense of humor. It is very positive that they rescue and help the reptiles and the fish. The only negative is that i thing they need to relocate and make bigger cages and tanks for the animals.More

Thank you very much, Γιαννη. The present location of Aquaworld is the only place I could find to build it in 1994 - all the local owners of land and buildings said that it was a really stupid business idea! Well, 23 years later we're...More

Small aquarium with limited tanks containing fish and some large reptiles which are often brought out for visitors to meet in the small yard. Reliant on charitable donations it is worth a visit and the staff are obviously very knowledgeable and passionate.

Lovely little aquarium/reptile centre. Clear to see from the outset that all involved are mega passionate about what they do. Great variety of animals and plenty of hands on action. Loads of good information in several languages. A great wee place to pop into!

Just about 4 km - straight through the main street of Hersonissos and then turn left at the supermarket Halkiadakis. Then we are just 50 m or so up the side street.
