Richmond is well known for it's dinosaur and marine fossils and is one of the main stops along the dinosaur triangle. With three main rooms within the museum, all with spectacular fossil specimens such as Plesiosaurs, Ichthyosaurs, Turtles, Ammonites, Fish and of course, the Kronosaurus,...More

I thought the display was expensive at $20 per person and the café was amateurishly woeful, serving people out of turn and we waited over 15 minutes for a couple of smoothies, but when questioned they hadn't even started to make them. So we left...More

We enjoyed looking at their collection of fossils, we went up to the quarry sites but had no luck. The food in the cafe was excellent although the staff were not very friendly and service was slow

A great leg in the dinosaur trail (hughenden/winton/longreach) seeing all three attractions really completes the inland sea story.

the fossils here are particularly well presented. The display is well laid out and contains excellent examples. It has a fossil preparation area, activities for children. The short film display is informative. Cafe and shop are on site.

Our family (two adults, two dinosaur crazy boys aged 9 and 11) spent a happy hour here wandering around listening to the audio guides supplied. The narration is by locals who in some cases found the fossils, which adds interest to the commentary. The exhibits...More

World class (mini) museum in a tiny outback town. Worth the 483km drive from Townsville if you are interested in dinos. Plus, there are two public fossicking sites just 12km outside Richmond where you can dig for fossils. Lakeview Caravan Park provides decent accommodation with...More

Nicest thing about Richmond was this spot. Most kind in assisting with information on fossils. The main problem is most of the town is shut or for sale. Only one place to eat (Even the Cafe at Kronosaurys Korner was shut this day)

We found the Ammonite Inn motel was a good place to base our Richmond activities from. It also has a restaurant which serves up excellent meals. The managers were very friendly and helpful when we stayed there.
