Worth the hike
Jun 2021
If you're looking for an idyllic spot to take the weight off and chill then this is the spot to do it.

Made the hike down to Balding Bay and was greeted with a 180º vista of the bay and open sea. Be warned though that it is a hike, the path starts off fairly well defined but there are sections that you will need to have your wits about you to navigate.

Other than a toilet there are no facilities on or near the beach so take everything you think you will need.

Well worth the time and effort to get to the bay.

Beautiful bay, difficult to reach
Jun 2021
Beautiful bay, unexpectedly discovered it was a nudist beach!
Main issue was that although the distance to the beach from horseshoe bay was signposted, there was no indication of how difficult and uneven the boulder “steps” up and back were. This created some difficulties for some in our party, and greatly detracted from our experience

We didn’t even know this was a nudist beach until we were rock hopping and saw from a distance! Apart from that such a lovely beach with clear waters.

Completely deserted unofficial nude beach
Dec 2020
This place is amazing! So pristine, the water is so clear, and when we visited we did not see another person on the beach. Two or three tour boats passed through the bay but that was about it. The walk from Horseshoe bay is only between 1-1.5km however it was steep and rocky at times so good foot wear is well needed. A bottle of vinegar is at the beach for stinger bites and there was also a toilet along the track just before the beach.

Pretty scenery (It is a nudist beach though)
Dec 2020
We went past Balding Bay on a sunset cruise and the water was so clear and coral and fish were clearly visible. Thankfully there were no people (it is a nudist beach) due to it being nearly sundown, the scenery was beautiful. Would recommend past near dusk if you are not a nudist.

Little paradise
Dec 2019
Awesome beach! Looks like a little heaven! The walking track is moderate, bring water and good shoes, but it worth! It’s important to say that is a nude beach, but almost anyone goes to this beach, is pretty much all the time empty. Love it!

Follow the walking track from Horsehoe Bay to find this hidden gem!

We stopped here on our way to Radical Bay and loved it!! A perfect place for a swim or a picnic :-)

Take a hike!

Nice little bay away from the others. Worth the hike around downhill from the forts walk and over the top into horseshoe bay and catch the bus home. Alternatively 4wd there and back

The best nudist beah I have been on
Jan 2019 • Couples
There are no official nudist beaches in Queensland but Balding is a well known unofficial nudist beach. It is probably the best i have been on having visited many countrys. Its a 20 minute walk up and down natural stone steps, or arrive by boat. Either way it is worth as the beach is usually very quiet, stunningly picturesque. Some shade at either end of the beach and between the rocks in the middle. There is a drop toilet behind the beach but no other facilities. Just enjoy the beauty and peace and quiet.
