I cycle to this point quite often. It is the first 1000ft hill in the southern Pennines and the view is worth the pain of getting up. On clear days you can see the Welsh mountains!

Fantastic views from this vantage point and well worth the visit. No tea shops, ice cream vans or car parking charges! Sunrise or sunset would be the best time to visit on a fine day.

Parked here at the start of a walk. No other reason to come here, don't think it would even be any good for dog walking. Maybe of interest if you are fascinated by radio masts!

Take your binoculars- night or day ! Really good for seeing all the way to the end of the world. If you know anyone who thinks it's flat, bring them here for a laugh.

A great place to begin and finish a walk around this beautiful part of Derbyshire. It is a National Trust carpark and so is well used throughout the week and especially at weekends.

Alport Height is lovely for its amazing views and for taking the kids or the dog for a run around the hill. Its National Trust but its just a picnic area really with a fair sized car park. It has big radio masts because its...More
