Visited Wastwater a couple years ago, and had to revisit again this time around. Amazing scenery all the way down, lovely walks or picnic areas. Defiantly recommend a visit.

The scenery around the lake is stunning, with the hills all around, the scree on one side of the lake. We swam in it a number of times, which was wonderful. If swimming, it's a good idea to have footwear you can take in the...More

At 80 odd metres deep this lake is the deepest in England, though quite narrow. The scree field you can see in the far side as you drive continues steeply down into the water. The lake is clean and the fresh water is lovely to...More

The best views within the Lake District and only a handful of visitors which makes this place all the better. Narrow roads lead to the lake with plenty of stop and view areas. Continue your visit to the inn at the end of the road....More

We were lucky to walk around the lake on a sunny day. We walked along the northwest side of the lake first, starting at the Wasdale National Trust car park- starts by gentle walks in the ferns then harder walk in the scree, then scrambling...More

The toilets at the National Trust Car Park at Wasdale Head are portaloo style ones and really dirty and disgusting. Given the number of visitors here the NT should be making sure they are kept clean. It's an absolute disgrace and is such a shame...More

This is my new favourite place on earth! So peaceful (although we are not yet in peak season) views absolutely breathtaking and the air so fresh you could taste it. My dog loved his paddle in the water too!!

We stayed in Nether Wasdale at the south end of the lake. There are 2 pubs with rooms. The youth hostel on the water's edge us also an option.
