Lovely sunny day, but the moment we started the drive the heavens opened!!!...then stuck in a passing place on a steep incline where the handbrake wasn’t holding...leg shaking from the fear we managed to move off and enjoy the rest of the pass. Didn’t get...More

The best drive in Britain! I did it again and again! If you love driving, you'll love this road! If you're not an expert at hillstarts, you'll hate it! If you're not at expert at reversing around corners (on a 1 in 3 gradient), you'll...More

A continuation of the Wrynose Pass, if you are travelling west... and just as interesting, well worth the time to drive it....

We drove the Hardknott Pass on Saturday 14th October starting at the Ambleside end. You start out on the Wry Nose pass which then becomes the Hardknott Pass further along the road. The scenery was absolutely spectacular and I wouldn't have missed it for the...More

Amazing views in windy rainy October, truly mesmerising, be careful on the tiny roads though! Great for dog walks and taking pictures, there was other people around, but it wasn’t bustling with tourists when we went :)

Not for the faint hearted as it's a single track road with very steep inclines and sharp bends but the scenery is absolutely stunning. Wouldn't recommend doing this in the rain and you need to be a confident driver with a fairly decent vehicle. We...More
