Nice grounds. Very interesting old ruins with great story. Nice grounds and good views. English Heritage is doing a great job here. Limited parking, however, down dead end road near office.

Easy to find and access. A nice, quiet area and the castle ruins/grounds were very good to look at. Welcoming & informative man on the desk. Free car parking and toilet facilities on site. Just as a warning; some parts of the castle are dark...More

Smashing English Heritage run castle, originally built in the 13th century but restored in the 17th Century. Extremely interesting ruins and you can walk right up to the battlements for some great views of the area. Love castles, certainly loved this one.

Just a couple of minutes off the A66, about 30 minutes by car from Keswick, Brougham castle sits next to the River Eamont, and is easy to drop into if you happen to be passing by. The river apparently once formed the border between England...More

Visited on a gloomy day but were warmly welcomed. Very informative guide and the ruined castle is quite enchanting. Bring a torch for the dark spooky staircase in the keep and flat shoes. Views are amazing

We stopped by Brougham Castle since we were English Heritage members. What a find! On a gorgeous sunny fall midweek day, there were very few people, which made it wonderful to explore. There is a fine little museum area at the entrance hut, which helps...More
