Very nice stop in Patzcuaro. Get a guide to explain things to you. Very interesting. We went with family and we all enjoyed the walk and the expositions. The patios are nice and Patzcuaro is very cute.

Several times we went through this building to only find one or two shops open. They seemed as touristy as any on the plaza. This building seems to have a great advertising agency because we saw posters and adverts for it everywhere, but little to keep us there once we went.

great shopping experience. There is a grand master selling lacquerware. Easy to wander through all the shops on different levels. Convenient bathrooms and great selection of different types of wares at a reasonable price

This is an amazing old hacienda. It is very nice just to walk around and try to imagine how people lived in the old days

An easy walk, about 2 blocks, from the central Plaza Vasco de Quiroga or Grande Plaza. It's well worth visiting. It has 11 patios, and many shops selling everything from fine woven curtains and sheets, and sarapes to pottery, the beautiful and ubuquitous Day of the Dead artwork statues and everything in between. Easy to spend a few hours and come away with a nice reminder of Patzcuaro.

Watched an artist doing some beautiful craft work and looked in some of the shops. It's amazing to see the calibre of their talents. What a good use of this space.

Visited this place twice in 2nd week of December and many places were closed. It was unclear who was open when, and also which places were located where. It’s a confusing labyrinth, so a guide would be helpful. Those that were open had some grumpy bored people. At least 2 places had a sour puss sitting in the shop. Maybe this place is set up for tour buses.

A former convent, originally with 11 patios, now apparently with 5, although it is difficult to count them. Beautiful colonial architecture, including a Baroque bathing house built for a princess, it is now converted into an art and craft centre. On the lower level are shops selling beautiful examples of local crafts, especially MichoacĂ¡n lacquer and textiles. On the upper floors you can meet some of the artists and craftspeople and see them working. Entrance is free and you can wander at leisure, enjoying the buildings, the crafts and a taste of former times. Perhaps best to arrive after 12:00 to find more of the shops open, especially during the week. A great place to find an unusual souvenir or present.

Originally a convent, now it's a place with many shops selling high qualify things from Michoacan. Whether you want a copper bowl, a nice guitar, a wooden mask or some straw baskets, you can get it here. Plus, it's a beautiful place to walk around and enjoy the buildings an patios (I never counted them, but I'll trust them that there are 11).

Lovely to look at; right in the center of town. Excellent crafts available, most directly from the artisans. Definitely worthwhile.

I believe it is open every day although the specific merchants may have different hours. I would not go on Sundays as that tends to be a family day.
