I't not so easy to get there, but if you really want to feel the spirit of magical place - Gjain will be the right one! If you grab Margit Sandemo's book Saga of Hexemaster, you'll understand everything. Just leave it as you discovered it....More

As everybody says: this is just soooo nice, especially when the sun is shining. If my family raves about Iceland they think of Gjain. Not very big, a good hour is ok to explore, but pure paradise. I would recommend to do the whole 327...More

Iceland squared I think. A bit hard to reach, you need to drive half an hour through a desolate lava field indicated 4wd only. The track was very doable and we crossed a fiat 500 cross. Today I am sure any 2wd would have made...More

One of my favorite stops on our tour around Iceland. To get there you have to drive down a bumpy road that is pretty much nothing but empty rock and old lava fields. Then you reach this place and its a beautiful oasis to greet...More

Loved this place! We had a gorgeous day and I know that certainly helped with its presentation. As we parked and peaked over the edge - it really was a magical feeling! It is like a haven in and among the cliffs. Water flowing from...More

Easy to find but bumpy to get to. Beautiful little valley and very easy hike. We had the place to ourselves most morning. Don't rush, bring some sandwiches and enjoy the moment!

It's quite a bumpy drive down a dirt track that barely qualifies as a road. As a result, it is not recommended to attempt this in a vehicle without 4x4. The reward for making it to the end is a really lovely small valley with...More

The road to Gjain is extremely rough. We had a lighter 4x4 vehicle and even we had a hard time. Probably one of the worst non-F roads we encountered. That being said, it's not illegal to try to take a 2 wheel drive vehicle... More
