Beautiful medieval city reached by cable car above the city of Trapani...well worth a visit many Museums, churches and ruins not to be missed. Restaurants quite good also....Visited early October need a jacket up there as it was rather cool.

Erice is located at the top of an isolated hill. The town is lovely with small streets, ancient churches and a fortress. Great views of Trapani and the countryside.

This is an old town at the top of a mountain. If you have a car, drive up - it is a "fun" winding/twisting road to the top. Once there, give yourself at least half a day to just wonder around all the little streets....More

Had to travel by taxi from the hotel as the buses don't run that often and when it's windy the cable car does not work. But had a very enjoyable time there.

We toured Erice during a tour and found the town very beautiful and rather quiet in Nov. What the town lacked in crowds, the beauty of the town with its narrow streets is breathtaking especially the views of Trapani below.

One arrives in Erice via cable car from Trapani. Mount Erice is 750 meters (2,460 ft) above sea level (bring sweater?) overlooking the city of Trapani. The Pepoli Castle, which dates from Saracen times, and the Venus Castle, dating from the Norman period, was built...More

We toured in November. A quaint, ancient tour with amazing views. While definitely touristy it is somehow less so than towns such as Taormina. By all means arrive on ten cable car which provides extraordinary views and frees you from the hassles of parking.

We spend night at Erice, during the day it's very crowded but from 6pm all tourists are gone and it's difficult to find a restaurant and there is no bar. But it's worth a visit !

Yes, you take the cable car from Trapani. So you have to drive there and park the car at the Cable car station car park. You could also drive the winding steep road all the way to Erice, but then you will miss the fun of the... More
