I wanted to learn more
Sep 2021 • Couples
It’s clear a lot of effort has gone into the museum. I was eager to learn a lot from this trip, but unfortunately the museums approach made it difficult. Nearly every display has multiple long paragraphs of information to read. Don’t get me wrong, I live reading but when others are waiting a turn and there are hundreds of displays, it gets tiring. There were several animated/audio displays but they didn’t all seem to work.
Worth the $12 ticket, but could have been so much better.

Great visit

Staff was very friendly and Covid precautions in place. Everything was very clean. We loved learning more about our forefathers and ancestors. The young man weaving baskets out front was especially kind and lovely to talk to. Definitely recommend the museum while in the area.

Lots of information
Aug 2021 • Couples
This museum had lots of history. There were artifacts and displays and numerous photos. It is beautifully put together. They have a really nice gift shop. Masks are required but it is air conditioned. There are no hands on activities at this due to covid.

True American History that does not Teach You in School
Aug 2021 • Couples
One of the best American museum that I visited. Most museums sanitize the history of our nations. This museum teach how America treated the Cherokee people and steal their land. It is very sad 😭 and aweful, but that is our nation past.

I wish that it was bigger and more information about the current conditions of the Cherokee people.

True History

Beautifully done exhibits arranged easily for visitor to experience and understand. Could use a bench or two for the older visitors to sit and absorb the displays.

Concise history of the Cherokee and neighboring nations
Jul 2021
In addition to some depth on the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, what struck me was the breadth in comparing and contrasting with some neighboring nations.

Lots of info in nice displays
Jul 2021
Very nice for a medium size museum. The displays were well done and the descriptions were a nice length to educate but not overwhelm.

Good small museum
Jul 2021 • Solo
The museum does a wonderful job of giving you a very large overview of the life and culture of the Cherokee of the Cherokee tribe. If you don't know anything about the Cherokee tribe or if you only know very little, This is a wonderful place for you. I would also suggest that this is a wonderful place to bring children considering the museum itself is not very long. However if you know Is a lot about the Cherokee tribe you're going to leave this museum wanting more. Personally I would love to see a larger section on New Echota, the Cherokee Phoenix, Major Ridge versus Chief Ross. Overall I would recommend this museum for all ages and for everyone.

I wanted to like it....
Jul 2021
I really wanted to like it...but it felt so incomplete. They have a good explanation of the trail of tears, but that is it. The history literally ends there. It wasn't even clear in the museum that thousands of Cherokee stayed here and that is why the town still exist. I wanted to see "recent history" too. It took about 45 minutes - less than on hour for sure. I was disappointed.
