I love history and these type of monuments, so I am a little biased. My 3 YO made it all 180 steps like a champ. My wife sat it out with our sleeping 2 YO but she usually does not care for these things. As...More

Driving through beautiful rolling coutryside in the Hudson Valley, we came across this place. Clearly a focus of a lot of civic as well as national pride. It's a heck if a tower. Standing in the middle of a large grasy patch with trees. Carvings...More

This monument is an obelisk standing nearly 155 feet, so you can spot it from miles around. It commemorates the Battle of Saratoga, which is said to be the turning point in the Revolutionary War. The architecture is beautiful and the monument was fully renovated...More

Very interesting historical monument to visit. The architecture is amazing. And it is quite the experience to walk up the 188 steps to the top of the monument. Excellent views both inside and out. The guide is also very helpful in answering questions.

The tower itself was closed, but it is impressive in size. Adjoining it is Victory Woods, where the British ended up after losing at Saratoga. Illegal relic-hunting has stripped these grounds of artifacts. How sad!
