Brand new museum after $17 million NYS grant. Many photos you can see in about 30 minutes. This museum is also based on computers that monitor their extensive database. You can also follow each section with the account of a selected veteran. You ca spend a lot of time with this as it was not crowded on a Tuesday afternoon. Right next to New Windsor Cantonment that is ideal for lunch.

If you happen to be in the West Point area be sure to make a trip to this museum. Cover the history of the medal and showing all aspects of getting wounded or killed in action through the wars it is a way to honor those who fought for the USA. There are interactive stations to hear stories of Purple Heart recipients and also computers so you can search a service person.

My boyfriend had read a article about this museum and we put our bucket list. This was our first stop on our trip to New Windsor. We were greet by very pleasant woman. She gave us a bit of background about the place and send us about the museum. It was very informative and moving to hear and see about the men that helps us maintain our freedom. We were very impressed this this museum.

The New Windsor Cantonment has been a special place to visit for me since the early 1970's, but this was my first visit to the Purple Heart museum. Such a sense of awe and patriotism for those who have served since the beginning of our country. Definitely worth a quick stop.

What a lovely museum. The one metal a soldier doesn’t want to get is the Purple Heart. The people working there are very helpful. Super clean place. They give you touch pens so you don’t have to touch any screens.

We went to see the place that honored the wounded from all of our wars. These people gave a piece of themselves for our freedom and some of them made the ultimate sacrifice.

A beautiful day...and a walk through history...this museum is worth a visit to honor those willing to give their lives for our freedom. The road that this museum is situated on is unofficially called Freedom Trail due to the fact that the Iranian Hostages traveled here on their way to West Point in 1981. The museum is one of the gems of this county full of history...Washington did sleep in Orange County...and not too far away is the New Windsor Cantonment and Washington's headquarters.
