This castle is beautiful on the outside but the "preservations" done are not true to the period and the few pieces of furniture were shabby, and the art work not well preserved. We were told there would be an English tour aand so we waited....More

We arrived late afternoon with no one else around. They told us that there was an English guided tour starting in 20 minutes and that we could walk around the castle while waiting. So we paid for the tour and walked around for 20 minutes....More

Rebuilt by Friedrich IV in the mid 19th century with aspirations of a hunting lodge this lovely castle is perched on the Rhein nestled into the forest. You must walk up from the parking area but it's a mild walk, well worth it. Entrance (5EUR)...More

The views from the castle are great. However, the difference between this castle and others on the Rhine is the that during the Romantic period the Prussian Royals restored the castle and made it habitable. The castle still contains many of the royal family's furnishings....More

Worth a stop on your way through the Rhine valley for the views if nothing else, but the restaurant on-site is a bit reluctant from a service point-of-view.
