Getachew awesome guide took us to is own house and we made ingera with his famliy. Also we had 1 day trip to the mountains around lalibela it was amazing. We organized everything from coffe tuktuk lunch and water. Good gudie we had a good interaction too.

I am a solo female traveller interested in photography.I had heard praises about Memekia in this forum and contacted him.What I truly appreciated about him is the fact that he really gauges interest of the traveller.He understood exactly what would appeal to me photographically,would make as many stops as I wanted and would also help me navigate with locals.He knows to give you space when you need it and yet always ready to help.As a solo female traveller,safety is important and Memekia would make you feel comfortable and protected.He is cool dude,loves his Ray-bans and very easy to hang out with.

I did a 4 day trek to Abuna Yosef with Getachew and his team. He is friendly and full of energy which are essential to wilderness life. He makes sure everything is taken care of and beyond--airport pickup, tour of town, nightlife, lodging. It's also the most reasonably priced which is important for most traveling students like myself. LET and Getachew are the way to go when adventuring within and near Lalibela.

The most funny and lifefull guide I have seen! He will make your trips unforgettable and full of joy. Biased of that, he knows the area very well and you can feel very safe to travel with him. When you come to lalibella don't miss him.

Getachew is by far the youngest guide i ever took on a treck, and i treck quite often, but have no fear my friends because he was one of the best!
Getachew's caring treatment and attitude, also his knowledge on the treck's landscapes, colture and wildlife is a rare necessity, when it is all combined like this there is no second to him. believe me.
we did the Abuna Yosef treck together for 2 nights, just trust him on whatever he says.
I'm glad to know that after all this i didnt just got to know a guide, but got myself a friend for life.

We just had Memekia as our guide in Lalibela. He is an excellent choice! He is very knowledgeable in the history of the area and especially the churches. He was able to take us through all the churches in one day after we arrived that morning. He is organized and efficient. He also reserved an excellent vehicle with a very good driver to take us to and from the airport, to a great restaurant for lunch, for touring, and finally to a great hotel that he recommended for us. I appreciated all the great historical information that he provided for us. He speaks English very well. He was patient with us as we are both photographers and he knows the best vantage points as well as timing for the churches and their services. We got amazing photos of the churches and the people worshipping. Also because he knows all the priests we were able to see the very special crosses that are kept and only typically brought out for mass. Each one is unique. Memekia knew everyone and was able to tell us when and who we could photograph without causing offense to anyone. We had a great lunch with Memekia and our driver---they were great company as well as excellent as tour guides. We were very satisfied and I would highly recommend Memekia for your Lalibela tour. We also got terrific souvenirs and great "people" photographs in our drive over from the airport. He was also very prompt and dependable. He can accommodate budgets from low to high---he offered us a range of choices depending upon our choice. Thank you Memekia for a great tour! I'm blessed to have experienced lalibela with Mars and Getachew. I highly recommend both of them. Mas is reachable on +251913050039 and Getachew is reachable on +251910879046. On the recommendations from other travellers, i was lucky to get Getachew as a guide.
He took me up to The mountains above Lalibela and it was a different world, amazing views autentic villages, visit to school and his family, all Highly recommended.
Getachew is also a great person and a good contact for things on Lalibela in general.

After one day trek to Abune Yosef, on March 12, I would like to recommend for doing this trip with Getacho. This guide speaks excellent english, he knows the area and the locals very well - what makes the experience so unique. Besides, he will arrange for you a traditional host in one of the local homes in the villages, and that was definitely one of my best moments during my journey in Ethiopia.

For several years we were dreaming to visit Ethiopia, it has been our top of mine destination and finally could make it these holidays. The minute we contact asheten eco Tours everything became organized and were very helpful with all our questions regarding our trip. We even had Gere (owner) 24 hrs available by Whatsapp which made very easy for us contacting him with all questions prior to our trip.
We travel for 23 days from South to North, to Dallol, Christmas in Lalibela, etc. We did the whole trip by road.
Gere is a wonderful guy. Very professional, sense of humor, kind and very helpful. During our trip he made a couple of recommendations to change our schedule and was very accurate. He even invited us to have dinner in his house in Mekelle with his beautiful wife and children. He was always attentive to us, and we had an excellent driver, Shime. Shime was the whole 23 days with us, very nice guy, helpful, attentive and very very very good driver (it is quite an odyssey to travel by roads). We miss Shime!
Be sure that ssheten eco Tours will make a great trip for you!
