If you're going from Windhoek to Solitaire, for instance, in the way to Sossusvlei, a nice option is to enter the C24/M47 after Rehoboth, and then take D1261 and D1275 to reach Spreetshoogte Pass. This is a beautiful mountain pass, where there is a parking...More

Stopped here for a picnic lunch. The best picnic place I remember ever seeing - the view was breathtaking! Breathtaking was also the drive down the extremely steep little road from the escarpment. Make sure you have a competent driver in charge who knows how...More

Our first “official” stop on our drive from Windhoek to Sossuvlei, other than stops to use the “bush toilet,” was a magnificent view point, Spreetshoogte Pass. This mountain pass connects the Namib Desert with the Khomas Highland. It is the highest point at 5839 feet...More

This pass offers unbelievable views with the bonus being you have to see it in order to get from Rehoboth to Solitaire even if it is on a D road. When passing Rehoboth on the B1, then proceed with C24 - D1261 - D1275 all...More

This is one of the more interesting mountain passes when dropping of the central plateau to the Namib Naukluft desert. The approach road from Windhoek calls for a right turn off the B1 just south of Rehoboth adn whilst this road can suffer when wet...More

This is an increadible landscape and well worth a slight detour if it is not on your route. Find a safe place to stop and admire the route.

All drivers with a caravan, trawler or not-so-strong engine are advised to go down the pass from Rehoboth and NOT drive up from the C14 road near olitaire. The road is really very steep.

Worth taking this minor route for the experience and the view. The steep sections are all paved so easy to drive up or down. The road either side is your typical dirt road.
