If you like and value schnapps, whisky and rum, you definitely should take a guided tour at "Lantenhammer". The tour is held by one of their employed, trained destillers, and is very eductional. After the educational part follows the taste part which gives a broad overview over their products. After the tour you can sample more of their products in their shop. Very recommendable.

This was a surprise. The Lantenhammer Distiller in Hausham is brilliant, an exemplary distillery to visit, a must see tourist attraction in the area. It is easy to find, good parking right near the entry, we met the family members and heard their stories, watched a film about their history and passion. We walked through the fruit processing area, would ,have loved to be there when they mashed strawberries! We strolled among the amazing giant glazed stoneware storage jars up to 2,000 litres. These are treasures and have not been made for some 30 years, how lucky they are to have them. We saw the stills, stage 1 and stage 2 distillations, and then we enjoyed tasting several liqueurs, one made with Williams pears, one with black currants, strawberries, and to finish, Kaffe of course. We bought several bottles to take home. Their sales room has different size bottles to suit tourists luggage issues. There are mini bottles in smart wooden cases too. I think these people really know how to present their passion and expertise. Definitely worth a visit.

Who doesn’t like to see how things are made. Here is a very comprehensive exposition of how Obstler (or fruit spirits in general) are made. Emphasis is put on tradition and history. Very good - even if the product is not necessarily the best of the region

I have been around quite a bit and tried many foods and drinks. Now that I live in Bavaria, I am discovering pockets of excellence in many culinary areas. When it comes to Schnapps and liqueur, here is one not to miss. Not only the area where Lantenhammer is located is beautiful (Alps, lakes, traditional villages...) but the welcome and the experience at their facility is just wonderful. There is an open area where you can learn about the process of distillation, where you can test your smelling abilities and train your nose. Then there is the choice and quality of their products: outstanding! You can try, compare, give your opinion and decide on what you wish to bring back home. Staff is multilingual so need need to know Bavarian to interact. Highly recommended even if you are not a connoisseur.

I have been longing for Lantenhammer Wildhimbeere liquor since first having it on a trip 3 years ago. You can not get it in the USA and they won't ship it here. It is an amazing place, full of wonderful liquor. You can taste any of the liquors. The staff is very helpful and speaks English.
