Not your typical tasting room

Visited Barry as part of our day long wine tour with experience the finger lakes. Great little spot, very enjoyable low key atmosphere. Wines are delicious. Especially liked the four track demo and the 1800 house white. 2017 Riesling delicious as well. Basically, stop by and try them all! You won’t be disappointed and Ian is a great host.

Excellent Wine

Barry Family Cellars never disappoints us. They have some very unique wines that you can't find many other places. We are especially big fans of their Pet Gnat style wines. We always enjoy talking to the winemaker/owner. We make sure to stop in every time we are in the area.

A “unique” experience of tasting
Jul 2019 • Couples
Recommended by another local winery, we visited this cute cozy winery shop as our last winery venture (out of 5) of the day. We like Red mostly so we tried all the 3 Reds (Rose), one white and one bubbly. They are all very nice but “unique” in their own way, not really in traditional way especially for the bubble one and the house red. The house Red was a blend of a Noiret (strong red wine we haven’t ever tried before) and a Chardonnay...odd but surprisingly agreeable mix and balance of the two, so we bought a couple of bottles. Our hosts/servers were friendly and helpful, great to talk with and made our tasting visit a very enjoyable time.

Great place

I was recently up in the finger lakes for a bachelorette weekend of wine tasting and site seeing. This was the last stop on our tour and I LOVED it!! The vibe was sensational and the wine was pretty good too;). The coolest part of this tour was a wall of old vinyl. I’m a sucker for old records and boy did they deliver. I was allowed to look through their library and play whatever I wanted. Matteo humored me on some of my choices and it was all in good fun. Who can say no to Slow Ride, no one!! Ian and Matteo were the bees knees
Ian was very personable and get to interact with and very passionate about the wines.
The whole party all said later if this was the first stop on the tour we would have never left. It’s was that awesome.
Thanks Ian and Matteo for making our trip awesome and so memorable

Wonderful experience that lives on...

My husband doesn't even like wine... but he enjoyed this visit with Matteo and another lovely couple who also happened upon this little gem of a place. We learned more about wine and the area of the Finger Lakes that grows the delicious grapes. You must visit this place and bring home some of their wines. We did, thank goodness, and remembered the experience as we drank the bottle of 1800 White House on a recent date!

Outstanding 2016 Cab Franc
Jul 2018 • Couples
Part of a wine tour we went on and grateful for it being on the tour. The tasting room is not at a winery and quite frankly had it not been on the tour we would never have gone to the place. It is a really cool building however just not the typical Seneca Finger Lakes vineyard. It ended up being my favorite spot and favorite wine. We tasted almost 100 wines. The wines here were all very good except one which I cajoled the sommelier to let us taste which he reluctantly did. The 2016 Cabernet Franc was exceptional. By far the best red we experienced and top three out of all the 100 we tested. The tasting room is eclectic and gave the vibe of Grateful Dead playing at Watkins Glen years a go. The sommelier was very knowledgeable. Don’t drive by this place you will not be disappointed.

Truely a family winery

Run by the Berry Family, from the kids, to brothers to wives, this is their tasting room for great Finger Lakes Wines. A bit off the Seneca Lake Wine Trail Road, it's worth the trip

We visited Barry Family Cellars tasting room in Burdett, NY today. We were welcomed by Brian Barry, who insisted that his title is "Assistant Everything". We tasted half a dozen of their wines (red, white and dry rose), and found most of them to our liking. What made the visit extra special was Brian's willingness to spend whatever time with us that was appropriate to explain the location of each of the vineyards where the grapes are grown and the qualities they are looking for in a variety. His patient discussion and thorough descriptions, as well as his willingness to carefully respond to our questions were deeply appreciated. We bought several bottles of their wine and will likely be back for more.

Great wine in a quaint village

I had the chance to stop by Barry Family Cellars last week for the first time. I was really pleased with my experience. I got the chance to chat with the brothers that make the wine there all while tasting their wine. They're a small operation compared to some in the finger lakes and that is refreshing. They really care about the product they produce and it is evident in the wine. I walked away with a few bottles and will likely be back for more.
