A typical trip will have you exploring our magnificent coastline and bay while looking for whales, dolphins, sharks, seals and seabirds. Apart from the Southern Right Whales, we are able to view Brides Whales, Humpback Whales and possibly even Great White Sharks. There are many Cape Fur Seals, African Penguins, Dolphins, Sunfish and plenty of coastal marine birds to been seen whilst out at sea.

I doubted a long time because of the stories of sea sickness. Im so glad i came with ivanhoe tours today! The tour was very well arranged. A nice boat, not as full as the others we saw in Hermanus (too full no movingspace and unsafe). The crew was very friendly and knew a lot anout the whales and gave... More

Beautiful scenery, a great boat trip. Spacious boat with helpful and knowledgeable crew. Amazing to see the gentle giants of the sea up close. Best experience for my Mother and I. Would highly recommend this company.

My husband and 2 children went whale watching and saw several whales and 2 different kinds. The tour is the perfect amount of time to keep the children's attention. The crew was so knowledgeable about the whales and surrounding coast. After the whale tour, we drove down the coast to Stony Point to see the penguin colony.

Took a while but we eventually found a whale with its calf. Crew were very informative and knowledgeable and the 2 hours went by very quickly. Sea was quite choppy and on finding the whales the crew cut the engines to follow them. This meant the boat rocked quite a bit and a couple of tourists became sea sick. Still... More

Unfortunately, during our 2h trip we did not see any whales. According to the guide it was the "second time in 11 years" that this happened, so apparently we were extremely unlucky.. Unfortunately they also wouldn't give us the money back, just a voucher for another trip - which is quite unlikely since we are not going to be in... More

Maybe it was the time of year we went and the calves were still too young (early Oct) but we were disappointed with our experience. I love seeing whales anywhere in the world, but perhaps we'd seen so many so close to shore in De Kelders, we should have skipped the boat trip. The boat and crew were fine but... More

Did this tour with me mate Jonif from UK. We have done a lot of diving and whale boat tours in the past all over the Cape. Ok so the boat is not brand new but its clean and is well equipped with the latest safety features, prefer a safety conscious crew who know their stuff any day over a... More

Dear all, we had an amazing trip with the Ivanhoe guys with excellent explanations and appreciated the way they approach these phantastic animals in a way that they are not disturbed and a cow with a calf voluntarily came to us and stood with us almost 30 mins even 1 m next to the boat until we left. An everlasting... More

The whale watching safari was nice because we found several whales, but I think that the time was not enough and the price pretty expensive.

Starts from Gansbaai Harbour about 40 minutes from Hermanus by car. We got there in good time finding a place to park, free parking and then sat in the shade outside the Ivanoe office before checking in about 30 to 40 minutes before the trip, we signed in and got our wrist band. Relax ready for a great experience. The... More
