Simple pit stop
Dec 2018 • Couples
You need to be aware that this historic old bulding is oly open Saturdays and Sundays. That's it. Not even public holidays. Simple, clean good fare. Short menu, more café style it is a welcome pit stop for a cold drink, snack or coffee.

We we're utterly surprised with this awesome visit! Where will you get 4 cups of filter coffee for only R10.00! Food portions are big enough to share, VERY tasty, well presented and exceptional service. A MUST see!

Weekend brunch hideaway
Sep 2017 • Friends
Mike and Peter created an amazing little hideaway to have brunch at in the middle of nowhere. Such a charming setting with warm and friendly hosts. Not to be missed if you pass through Calitzdorp over a weekend.

One of Calitzdorp's little gems
Nov 2016 • Family
Situated outside of Calitzdorp, but well worth the drive.

A great selection of art, paired with a tranquil setting of beautiful natural surroundings and traditional karoo hospitality.

Everything on the menu is freshly prepared, simple and unpretentious, yet absolutely delicious. The quiches are divine! Also, try the Thai Iced Coffee and fruit shakes (the spanspek and basil comes highly recommended) - super refreshing on a hot day!

What a surprise
Sep 2016 • Family
We cycled there (passed it) as a family. An interesting 14km one way route which could be extended to 20km or more (one way). Had something to drink, got fresh water and ice and sat under the trees at the river. A pleasant surprise and experience.

Worth the drive for lunch
Aug 2016 • Family
I wasn't sure the14km drive for lunch would be worth it with 3 small children, but I'm super chuffed we went.

The valley is amazingly beautiful. The road is in excellent condition and the destination was great.

The kids walked down to the stream and we browsed the art gallery while we waited for the food.

The quality of the home-cooked food and coffee was very tasty and we all had a fantastic meal.

It's a simple wholesome and healthy menu. The prices are very reasonable. Try the quiche!

In typical Karoo style the owners asked us to EFT them the cost of our meal as their credit card machine wasn't available. No fuss or swopping of details just a "oh send us an EFT when you get a chance" that about sums up this little gem and the Karoo.
