Ryno & his staff worked with our small petrolhead group to give us a second chance to drive the awesome Tradouw pass after a quick coffee break and pre-ordering of our pizzas. On return the wonderful sourdough based pizzas appeared 3 at a time washed down by some of the best home brew that everyone remarked was top class . A hidden gem in Barrydale.

We popped into the brewery during a short visit to Barrydale from Montague, where we were staying. Weather was cool and the fireplace was inviting. The beer was good, so we ended up staying ror pizza lunch. Really nice, thin crust sourdough pizza! More red wine and some shopping at the pottery studio next door completed a very pleasant trip.

Some of the best pizza around. Excellent beers with a selection for novice to serious stout types. Here you’ll find great hospitality, food that’s simplistic but not shy on flavor which mimics the excellent beers. Saison and Amber being a winner for me. Prices much like the rest of Barrydale are conservative rather than cosmopolitan. A must for the love of beer and a local brew (coffee too)

I recently visited The Makers Brew in Barrydale and, unfortunately, left quite disappointed. Despite there being only about five people in the restaurant, I was told to wait because it was “a bit busy.” The old man behind the counter seemed overwhelmed and treated me with little patience, which left a sour impression. It’s hard to enjoy a place when the service feels dismissive and unwelcoming. I hope they work on improving their customer service, as the experience was far from what I had hoped for.

The Makers Brew offers exceptional craft beer. A fairly new spot in Barrydale we wish them success in their venture.

I loved 3 of the beers on offer - very good.

The Mystic Overlander were making delicious pizzas in their mobile pizza van.

Recently opened Brewer in Barrydale. Well worth the stop. Interesting story, Beer and really awesome G&T's. They offer 4 different beers and I would suggest the Tasters tray with the a little Tapas platter and then let Ryno tell you his story. If you don't like beer, its still worth the stop.

Arriving at the Maker's Brewery it looked like they were open, but when we walked in we found that they were actually closed and just doing some maintenance work on the tasting room (they are usually closed on Mondays and Tuesdays). The owner however invited us in for a tasting anyway as we'd come all this way. We ended up doing a tasting of their Blonde, Amber, Saison and Porter, and although all of them were good the Blonde and Saison were the stand-out ones for us and we ended up buying some as well. With the owners' passion for his beer, hospitality, and the good beer rounding it all off, it makes Maker's Brewery complete worth stopping.

This is a scenic spot to try some delicious craft beer, and meet the brew master, while you browse through some of Helen Vaughan's wonderful ceramics. It's an inviting, open, bright space which feels like a place you don't want to leave. Situated right on Route 62, with a view across the valley it's well worth the stop. And grab some beer, or artwork to take with you when you leave.

This was our second visit to Barrydale, and we loved it.

A true craft beer spot. Small, quaint and personable this brewery is what we love to stop and enjoy. Not big and commercialized this off the beaten path spot is what the craft brew industry thrives on. Nice local shop connected to it but inside theres a nice bar, a few tables and outside has a picnic table to enjoy your pint or your flight of tasters.
