Poor in every department
Oct 2021 • Couples
From check in to departure a disappointing experience. We felt to be a burden and not guests. Why open your doors to overnight guest when you are not ready to accommodate them.
Definitely won't be back or recommend the venue to anyone else.

I loved it!
Sep 2021 • Friends
Probably my favourite coffee shop / wine tasting venue in and around the winelands. This shop is located on a breathtaking wine farm / estate with loads of little trails and a big area for children to play. There are horses and if you walk to the dam, you will find geese.

Quality coffee, I can assure you. I also love their locally produced merchandise. They have wooden sunglasses, Die WAX-shirts, caps, silicone rings and so much more.

YOU WILL LOVE IT!

Diemersfontein wine tasting - such wasted potential
Dec 2020
We visited Diemersfontein for a wine tasting on Saturday, 5t December 2020. The reception at security was excellent with a really friendly female security guard, however the rest was disappointing, especially considering the price of their wines. We were told that the Restaurant is no longer operational as a result of the impact of the Covid lockdown. The tasting room has moved to the restaurant area. They have lovely facilities, but unfortunately it seems that it is not important to the owners to train staff properly. The lady who served us was very friendly but she was obviously new and had not been trained properly - so she lacked confidence. Service was slow and there was very little information shared about the wines apart from telling us that it 'has berries and fruit IN the wine'. There are no signage up to advertise the cheese platters which are actually very cleverly done - you choose your own sealed items from the deli section and then the kitchen staff serve this on a platter. It turned out a bit expensive but was nicely put together and enjoyable. We ended up buying the Diemersdal orignal Pinotage 2018 - which is a lovely wine with coffee and chocolate flavours.
My advise to the owners/management of Diemersdal is to invest in their staff and look at their facilities with the eyes of a visitor and then really use the beautiful facilities to their full potential instead of wasting it.

Exceptionally friendly staff
Oct 2020 • Friends
We visited on Saturday 17 October 2020. Good wine and good service. The good experience started at the entrance gate where we were made to feel very welcome indeed. This is normally such a neglected area, but Diemersfontein can feel proud of their people. The wine tasting was good with very knowledgeable and friendly staff.

My Fathers 89th birthday
Mar 2020 • Family
I have wanted to visit this restaurant for years as have always heard great reviews.
Maybe I left it too late and the owners have changed or maybe it was a bad day but I was so disappointed.
Outside the restaurant was really messy and untidy.
Battled to get my folks into the restaurant as there were so many stairs even after driving 4x4 to the back of the restaurant.
The decor was sort of thrown together and not comfortable at all.
The staff were over friendly and made us feel as comfortable as possible.
What attracted me initially was the extensive menu which meant everyone would be catered for but I was wrong.
Sorry we dont have that, nor that, nor that. We ended up having toasted sandwiches which were soggy door stoppers and my Dad had chicken wings with potato wedges and onion rings that were served so unattractively.
A real mess up to what I was hoping to be special for his birthday.

Good wine, poor platter
Jan 2020 • Friends
The wine is delicious and the host who conducted the tasting was very knowledgeable, but the cheese platter was extremely poor (I guess this is more applicable for the restaurant). It had normal toast on it! And from the cheese selection if was a small portion of blue cheese and camembert with first choice butter? Did buy a few bottles of wine to go.

Dissappointed
Jan 2020
We phoned to find out if the wine tasting was open and we were told that they were open until 5pm.
On arrival at 3.30 pm the lady said they could help us but they were actually supposed to be closing at 3;30. She made no secrets about not wanting to serve us and she said it was the other man who was supposed to help us not her. We were ignored for 45 minutes and the lady and the man continued to walk arround us as if we did not exist. Eventually we asked the lady if somebody could serve us and she said that it was supposed to be the man that should serve us but because he had not come to us she would bring us the wines. She then gave us the wine and told us we can read about the wines ourselves. She was very rude and gave very poor service. What a dissappointment to start the year off like that.

Dear Annette, Thank you very much for the review of your experience at Diemersfontein. We are always greatly appreciative in receiving feedback on our guests' experience, be it good or bad, as this offers us the valuable opportunity to identify points that need more attention to excel at offering a world-class guest experience. Though not a an excuse, we were terribly busy on Wednesday, more than normal for the 1st of January, as we were the only property in Wellington that was open on new years day. We pray you would accept our most humble apologies for your lacking experience and sincerely hope that you would be willing to offer us another visit to leave you with fond memories of Diemersfontein. You are more than welcome to direct an email to marketing2@diemersfontein.co.za and advise on a convenient time for you to be our guest. Kind Regards, Team Diemersfontein

Disgraceful Service
Dec 2019 • Family
My daughter popped up for a tasting with friends for her 21st. The tasting room staff were downright rude and obnoxious. What they failed to realise is these are a bunch or university graduates, their earning potential over the next few years is substantial, by treating them like vermin now, they have made sure these girls and their friends will never visit again nor buy your wine. Plus you put a damper on my daughters 21st Birthday. Pretty disgusted.

Dear ToniY109, Thank you for sharing your daughter's account of her experience at the Diemersfontein Tasting Room. I am humbly apologetic for you feeling that we put a damper on Kesley's 21st birthday. As our Tasting Room is an environment focused on the service and sales of alcohol, we are proud supporters of the values of the ARA (NPO). To this end, and that of the obligation placed upon us in the bylaws of our liquor license, we are legally not allowed to serve or sell alcohol to persons under 18 years of age. Contravention of this will be in direct breach of the law and we subsequently run the risk of losing our license. When the young ladies arrived at our facility, one of our Tasting Room staff welcomed them and assisted them. She, noticing that one of the guests appeared very young, requested proof of identification from the ladies to ensure that they are of legal drinking age. The young lady who appeared to be too young did not have identification and they were thus informed that we would not be able to serve her with a tasting. The ladies then proceeded to walk out of the Tasting Room and then left the facilities. Never was service refused to the entire group, as three of the guests had identification, nor were the young ladies told to “go wait outside, goodbye!”. In terms of the liquor law of South Africa, if anyone in the service industry serves alcohol to a minor, or serves alcohol to an already intoxicated individual, the person facilitating the service is legally responsible, should anything happen to the guest. Throughout the year, winefarms are subject to random 'spot checks' by law enforcers. Should we take the risk of serving someone who is under age, and a law enforcement official enters our facility, we run the risk of a substantial fine, or even worse, having our license revoked. The tasting hostess stood her ground, acting in terms of legality, but never treated your daughter and her friends like vermin. Should the young ladies have visited a club or bar as part of their celebrations, and not be able to present identification, they would not have been granted access, let alone service. Winefarms are unfortunately subject to the same laws. Kind Regards, Team Diemersfontein

21st birthday disappointment
Dec 2019 • Friends
My friends took me out for a special 21st birthday treat to the wine tasting venue, upon arrival we were ignored. Our presence was clearly an imposition on the staff. They then demanded our ID’s, when one of our friends didn’t have her ID on them (as she’s already 22), we were spoken to in a condescending manner and told “go wait outside, goodbye!” It was the perfect way to ruin a 21st, we will never be back nor will we ever purchase any of your wines again. I would strongly advise other people to steer clear.
