About
The farm has been the jewel of the Bovlei valley for three centuries and has had many owners. The current farm dates from 1993 with the decision to grow high quality wine grapes. The first vines were planted in 1995. Since the present owners acquired it in 2003, they have built a winery, tasting room and storage complex. In 2005, the farm was given Estate status.

Doolhof is a very special and beautiful place. They have great selection of wine that you can have with cheese and meat platters or even a plate of chips. Its such a beautiful place and very laid back, but full of quality. They have a 3,8KM river walk that I would recommend to anyone, we have done it with our small kids age 5 an 8 and both completed it comfortably. Its such a beautiful place really recommend to anyone who loves nature and loves wine.

An amazing and beautiful hotel in Wellington. The suites are absolutely breathtaking. We also loved the food at Mila. Staff is fantastic. Everything worked perfectly and we would love to come back soon.

Great tasting with Mark. Great stories and got to taste a few extra wines that were opened after a pairing the previous day. Hidden in the mountains.

My cousin and I had a couple of hours to spare around Wellington so headed down the Bovlei valley to one of my favourite South African wineries. Doolhof did not disappoint. Far away from the main tourist routes, it's a peaceful and stunning setting. It's not often we cannot fault any of the wines we chose to taste. From my favourites, single vineyards malbec and sauvignon blanc, to the lady in white. Everything tasted superb. A wonderful start to the day. And half price cases of sauv blanc to take away. Just need to find more suppliers back in the UK now!!

For outstanding wines made by a skilled and courageous wine maker in a gorgeous environment surrounded by friendly and knowledgable people, Doolhof is your place! From a classic and smooth Bordeaux (Theseus) to a bold, smokey South African take on the red blend (The Minotaur) to the best Malbec you will taste anywhere, this tasting experience is amazing. And they pour all your choices at once so you can go back and taste/compare! Why doesn't every tasting room allow this?! The tasting room is bright and lovely and if you are lucky enough to have Jasmin stepping out of her Sales and Marketing role to pour for the day, then you're really in for a treat.
Note: no trouble at Cape Town airport to carry wine on board; no need to check.
Thank you Jasmin for an awesome day!

We were staying on the estate; stopped in to do wine tasting and have a bite to eat. Lovely location, pretty outdoor seating, attentive-enough hosts. Not a very informative tasting experience, but lunch was nice.

We visited this estate when on the Wellington Wine Walk. Stunningly beautiful estate nestling in the valley. Wine tasting room is beautiful too but has no soul. The lady who poured wine only knew details on bottle. Wine maker was not present. This winery makes very good wine but we were not encourage to purchase. Disappointing

This is a great place to visit and try wines whilst eating and enjoying the fantastic views.Even after the fires which have scorched the adjacent mountains almost to the edge of the estate the environment is tranquil and refreshing and a walk around the vineyards will reveal the care lavished on the grapes. Then try the wines and ask advice to order a plate of foods to complement the wines you have selected. We had a tasting as a part of our 4 night stay at Grand Dedale

We only had a tasting but there was a wide selection and all wines were available at a competitive price for a tasting. Beautiful setting and accommodation looked very good. Nice choice of walks by the river or through the vineyards with dramatic scenario. Part of the charm is the access over an unmade road for several kilometres.

Second visit here, seems to be consistent wine tasting hosting.

Professional presentation with each separate glasses provided for each wine selected and labeled accordingly.

Took the lunch picnic, tasty but a bit overpriced at R280 for a couple considering what's included. All the same you won't go home hungry 😋
