This shop is exceptionally well positioned to catch the tourist trade as Swellengrebel St was jam-packed with tourist buses on the day that I visited.
I also have a feeling that the chocolates sold in this shop were a very popular item to buy, as the sole glass display case housing the chocolates was in need of replenishing.
I echo the sentiments of another reviewer who mentioned the fact that the shop stocked other gifts and collectibles - to me it seemed like chocolate didn't occupy much shelf space.
Wouldn't it be lovely for Swellendam to have its very own chocolatier, crafting mouth-watering goodies to delight locals and tourists alike?

Choclate etc has got a friendly service with a pleasant welcoming and warm atmosphere.
This is a must see for all tourists.
Go and buy the Belgian chocolates while finding something special for someone else or for yourself.

My wife and father inlaw been chocoholics this was a defnitly stop exspecially on a rainy day. A big variety of chocolates at a good prize. Well done to shop owner

This shop sold good well priced jewellery and chocolate. We just dropped in and ended up buying some very nice local jewellery that reflected the colours of the areas.
Service was professional and friendly. Shop was clean and well cared for.

This little shop is a bit more than just chocolates, although initially a bit disappointed by the fact this little shop is actually an artisan's heaven with other hand made item and not the Chocolate heaven you would hope for. But the friendliness off the owner and welcoming decor make up for it and you still leave satisfied with a box filled with delicious imported Belgium chocolates. Worth visiting for some on the road sweetness.

Chocolat's welcoming sign said : Friends and chocolates 2 things 2 make life sweet. I didn't visit to buy chocolates for my friends but for myself. I visited from Cape Town and the chocolates would in any case melt on the road. The friendly lady welcomed us and I said I am coming to do a "chocolate comparison test". Looking at the display you don't really know which to choose. I then bought some marzipan and spirit filled chocolates. Chocolat has some gift boxes already made up should you reconsider buying for friends. My grandson thoroughly enjoyed the selection his mother bought him. A Jewellery and gift shop is also accesible from Chocolat. Location of Chocolat is at the end of the Town.

A very nice shop - you should or MUST try the pralines with Belgian chocolate. Otherwise, the shop is worth a visit with very beautiful scarves and hats. Very nice owner.
