    Beautiful park!
The park is stunning. The scenery breath taking. We saw a group of zebras running. Plenty of bontebak . We were able to get up close to a bunch of them. We didn't see another car or person while we were there so it really had real feeling that we were out in the wild with the animals. But we got lost trying to leave and it was a bit confusing and scary as it was getting dark and we xoulsnt find the exit. Google maps couldn't figure it out either. We would definitely go back and recommend it.

Small park, not a lot to see
Small national park just outside Swellendam. We saw a few antelope but not many, also saw a few birds but overall not a lot to see. The staff were friendly but the map and the verbal guidance given were not particularly helpful. The roads probably need an SUV to be comfortable and confident driving round (it had rained heavily that day). Low entry cost but would not go back

Small park, well maintained and great for day visit
Although we live locally, was first time we got to this park. After recent disappointing experiences at some of the bigger national parks, this one was far more pleasant. Well received at reception with some explanation of the park and its rules, clean toilets and little sign of litter. Looked well maintained. Roads a bit rough in places but in 4x4 not really an issue. Game is there but not easy to spot. Hiking paths well looked after and reasonably well sign posted though a bit confusing in parts, easy to figure out. Had a problem with my vehicle and parks staff were quick to attend and help sort out. Definitely now on local places for repeat visit.

Amazing views, bontebok right outside chalet
Amazing chalet with electric blankets, DSTV and a 2 plate oven. We woke up to a beautiful view and we had a bontebok walking right in front of our chalet. Lovely experience, we will definitely be back soon

Well worth a visit, especially if you are prepared to take time to look for the less obvious wildlife. We saw many different birds of prey, bustards and small birds as well as lots of antelope. Recommend taking field glasses as you will spot more with these when you drive and park up around the reserve. Facilities were good, especially around the river area.

We went late afternoon on a very hot day in the hope of seeing wildlife. Beware the National Park charge - it was a rather expensive walk! We took the wrong track from reception but were rewarded with a quiet spot near the river with a bontebok grazing. Very peaceful.

As part of a weekend breakaway we visited The National Bontebok Park. Although we drove all the roads available, we only saw four Bontebok and very few birds. We actually saw more Bontebok from the National Road alongside the park!
The day picnickers area is awesome although it is pity that the deck could not be Used except for official functions.
The viewing deck and the river view were also pretty

Morning visit only. Receptionist very helpful but it was made clear it would be a self-drive. Unless you have an SUV or 4x4, it is impossible as all the tracks are rough/gravelled. There were many rangers outside, apearning not to be doing much, together with the same number of jeeps. We would love to have paid (obviously) for someone to drive us around and show us the wildlife. As it was, we gave up after about 15 minutes, having seen three bontebok. What a waste of money for us, and a missed opportunity for the park to generate some money. Very disappointing.

APRIL 2023 Our family of five rented 2 cabins and we loved our stay. There was loads of bok and hartebeest—even in the yard, clacking horns and walking along the road right next to us. On the car tour we saw a Cape zebra family with baby. Yes, it's a lot of veldt and the roads are very rough and loosely marked. The entire stay was low-key and beautiful. Swam in an ice cold river (which had some unfortunate trash) and grilled. Aloe Hill hike was charming. This is not a place to expect intensity. It's a chill little park with very little staff presence. One cabin—both clean—had a super-bright lantern for load shedding, but the other did not. It felt like we were the only 5 in the park but in a good way.

Having driven past Swellendam numerous times but never knew this Park was there or so close to the N2 . Its a small Park compared to many others & can be driven in around 2 hrs , All roads are gravel but generally in fair condition . We were told there are a few Cape Mountain Zebra but they not always easy to find , fortunately we managed to 6 of them on the main viewing loop. Quite a few Blesbok , a few Red Hartebeest & some antelope we could not identify

Some of the viewing sites give you amazing views across the Reserve & Valleys with some history about a horse racing track

Our final stop was at the day picnic area , very nice & amazing views of the river . There are swimming areas & ablutions which were very clean & maintained

We bought a ticket, and few minutes after it our baby started crying at the parking lot.
We understood we can't go in and asked for a refund. They said NO. After approaching online they promised to refund but never actually did.

Don't expect to see a lot of game but this park is about the conservation of the Bontebok. if it wasn't for this park this beautiful animal would have been extinct. We only stayed for one night but were privileged to have a group of six of them including a little one right next to the road. Very well kept park as far as roads, accommodation and other facilities are concerned. No restaurant, shop or petrol but the park borders Swellendam where you can find everything. It will be a "sin" if you are ever in this area and do not visit this park.
