Beautiful hand made pottery by David and Felicity (owners). The work has an international reputation, but many wonderful pieces are available in the studio to buy at affordable prices. I am sorry I could not fit more in my luggage, but travelling back to UK made this impossible! David was also kind enough to show us around his working studio.

Not only is the beautiful pottery a surprise....but you want to experience the gardens as well. thousands of birds feeding, chatting and adorning the branches. Oh and you wont miss the live in cat! She talks as well and would quite eagerly get ito your cr and take off with you. The pottery is of high quality and standard. some exquisite pieces. Dont miss the experience.

we were two families with total of 5 kids visiting ranging from 2 to 10. The experience of watching David make a piece then teaching each child to make their own bowl on the wheel was incredible. David has patience for all ages and really was able to help each child create a unique piece. the studio is beautiful and has so much to look at if big and small pieces! I’d recommend making an appointment ahead to be sure to have enough time for the workshop which was so easy with a call ahead the day before. The kids learned so much while visiting and the gardens to walk around in were beautiful and inspiring!

What an amazing and truly magical experience!

We were a group of 3 moms with 8 Kids- ages ranging from 2 to 10 yrs old.

We started with pinchpots - and whatever you felt like doing with the clay. In between David gave advice and encouragement and was available to help with anything that was needed. After a tour through the studio he also demonstrated how he throws pots on the potter's wheel.

The picture that still sits in my mind is one with David working on the wheel surrounded by the children - all having a go - with David patiently guiding their hands and giving everyone a fair chance- even the 2 yr old!

Thank you David for the patience with the little ones and for encouraging and nurturing every bit of creativity that we've shown!

An experience I can highly recommend to people of all ages.

Ornamental rather than functional and very old fashioned style. Not a lot of enthusiasm from the owner / person there....

After visiting the museum we stopped off at the pottery studio. I loved the pieces on display and seeing the working studio. Peaceful and tranquil surroundings. If there was a hammock I probably would have parked off for an hour or so. Unfortunately David was busy with lunch for guests. However he made time to come out and talk to us. He also said we could come back and see him at work. Next time we are in the area we will be sure to pop in and watch David at work. Do not forget to say hello to Fudge. He is such a sweetheart.

David and Felicity have developed a wonderful business in a quiet corner of Swellendam. Their pottery, the large, the huge and the small are superb and have an international reputation. Well worth a visit and if they're not present it means they're on an errand and will be back soon. /// More recently they built a fully equipped cottage for rental. They offer pottery courses, and their neighbor yoga classes. Well worth a drop-in.

Sadly there was no-one around to speak to us when we visited. The visit was great however and we enjoyed the garden and pottery.

Very talented and lovely people... warm and welcoming. Children from USA purchased a vase of almost a meter tall and David packed it and shipped it and it arrived in brilliant condition. 12 years ago we purchased our very first piece of pottery in South Africa from them... have lots of warm feelings for these lovely people.

Here we bought our souvenirs for family and friends. And we kept one beautiful bowl for ourselves! The pottery is well worth a visit and the garden is beautiful, too. You can look around and browse with no problems at all.
