Last day of our holiday and such a charming place to spend the afternoon - nice little cafe too. You can do a trail or simply walk round the little lake.

I did a five hour hike in Helderberg on my own. Superb but quite demanding with wonderful views over Somerset West and beyond. There is an information centre which is manned by helpful and friendly volunteers.

One of my favourite mountain bike locations. Beautiful between the proteas and lots of climbing, which means great down hill riding! You pay for an annual riding board or per visit, when you enter the farm.

From a good old jog to some hectic hiking, from a relaxing walk to a chilled picnic afternoon .... this place has it all. And one cannot forget the birdlife and beautiful protea bushes! The reserve is an absolute gem situated in Somerset West.

Absolutely recommended for a shorter or even longer and complicated hike. However signalisation is not good, as signs are not on many corners or crossroads. It’s good enough though so you don’t get lost.

They co-exist quite well, and are mutually beneficial! You do not have to use the restaurant if you do want to take your own picnic
