The market on a Saturday - first Sat of every month is always interesting and hard to keep your money in your wallet :). So many incredible artists and crafts people, including those providing fresh produce all in one place. Definately worth trying to visit if you can. A great place to buy presents and souveniers for people back home.

We loved the relaxed vibe at this market, no hassle from stall holders to buy their wares, just people happy to chat about their craft. The couple of hours we spent here went way to quickly. A brilliant place to buy gifts.

We visited during a weekday. It was very quiet - Living Rocks was by far the most interesting shop for me as well as the paper shop which makes paper with elephant dung. There were people in the brewery.

I have travelled with Intercape coaches nearly all my life up to emigrating to the UK,and I want to say that the coaches are clean at all times, the staff are very efficient, very helpful and always prepared to go the extra mile for you the passenger. You will always arrive at your destination on time, and the staff on board, will always say goodbye in a friendly and efficient way, with a smile on thier faces.Personally,I will recomend Intercape travel to anyone who wishes to travel through South Africa,in comfort.

The Scarab village has a few shops which are open daily and the market, which is open very Saturday morning and offers one a wide variety of goods, from clothing to curios, craft beers and many other culinary delights. There is a centre area with tables and benches where you can relax and enjoy the vibe. From this vantage point, you can watch your children playing on the giant mosaic octopus in play area.

Open every day with the bonus that if you miss the market on Saturday, there is a cheese stall here.

The village is a market place for various curios, arts and crafts. If you are looking for gifts to take home then this is a pretty good place. We did however find it a bit expensive sometimes for what you get. There are also a few food places to eat.

Take a little walk to the open-air cinema section to admire the wonderful mosaic sculptures. Interesting little shops with everything from glass to jewellery. Then chill with a gin or locally brewed beer and contemplate whether there are actually any reasons to ever leave Sedgefield...

Hi - I will be travelling to South Africa this May and will be in Knysna May 21st. That day is a Tuesday and a free day for me and my group. We are Canadians and travelling with a Tour. Can you let me know if the market is open on a Tuesday or what other things that you could recommend. Thanks. Marie

Scarab village shops will be open - there are a few stores there, including a brewery and gin tasting place - but the markte won't be running. The most popular things in Knysna are a visit to the waterfront, a visit to "Knysna Heads" (the gap between hills from lagoon to ocean), a visit to the elephant sanctuary (where you get up close and personal with the ellies), a bird of prey sanctuary visit or a boat ride across the lagoon to the "Featherbed" restaurant. The latter is a half-day outing at a minimum. Hope you have a wonderful trip!!

The Village is open 7 days a week from 8am -4pm. The village consists of a number of shops and is well worth the visit.
The market which is next door to the village is open only on Saturday from 8-12am.
