Wild Oats is a local farmers and food market open every Saturday morning...

Wild Oats is a local farmers and food market open every Saturday morning until 12 noon. We are located on the western outskirts of Sedgefield at the turnoff to Sedgefield Island. An award winning Garden Route landmark we are not to be confused with the Scarab Craft Market to the far east of Engen Petrol Station or the Mosaic Flea Market across the road from Wild Oats. As a food market, our open times are limited due to the short shelf-life of many of our LOCALLY PRODUCED products which include: Free-range chicken, beef, pork and lamb, free-range eggs, multiple cheese, dairy and baked products including fresh gouda, cheddar, blue-cheeses... milk, fresh fish, fruits, free-range & organic vegetables in season, many traditional and exotic bottled goods, organic olives, berries, rusks, koeksisters, biltong & wors, famous artisan breads, award-winning cheesecakes and goats cheeses... and on and on and on. Also a fabulous range of hot-off-the-grill breakfasts, coffees, teas and fresh-squeeze juices and smoothies. FOOD HEAVEN! Come face-to-face with our local food producers every Saturday morning, come rain or shine.

The Wild Oats market is always a treat and a must do for us when we are visiting family in the garden route. I have in all honesty never been to a better or more vibey market than this one. It is a sensorial delight, smells and tastes abound while your eyes and ears take in the many sights and... More

A large variety of stalls and lovely food Live entertainment. Not all stalls have access to a "card machine" so ensure that you have cash on hand. Lovely Saturday outing

All travellers to this region should take note of this excellent way to spend a Saturday morning! A truly amazing farmers market, with a wonderful atmosphere. The emphasis is on fresh produce, but a great variety of wonderful snacks and small eats, local and international, are also offered! Allow for plenty of time, but note that the market closes at... The vibe is definitely hippy. Unfortunately this market has nothing original. The clothes all look like they are coming from Asia. The little shops are really not remarkable....nothing new under the sun. Long queues to get food. Too many people. Too many cars. Was a huge disappointment. I really was expecting to find something truly local.

Hi CTandyou, You have definitely confused Wild Oats with one or both of the craft markets across the road from us (most likely the Mosaic Outdoor Flea Market). Wild Oats is a dedicated farmer/food producers market... no craft, no clothing, no hippies, nothing Asian!!! We have great pride in hosting only the best quality, local Garden Route food producers, no... More

We dropped into visit this well organizational farmers market in Sedgefield. My only criticism is that it closes too early during peak season. A suggestion during peak periods stay open at least till 2 pm.
