About
Springfield Estate is a family owned wine estate situated in the Western Cape of Southern Africa. The Bruwers are descended from the French Hugenots and have been farming this land for five generations. At Springfield Estate, we are passionate about our craft. We believe that our name is our most precious possession, and our motto, Made On Honour, applies to every facet of our being. Our wine at Springfield Estate is made from single vineyards, mostly using natural yeast. This allows the character and the individuality of the grape to truly show itself. Due to our natural yeast fermentation, we strive to work as naturally as possible, both in the vineyard and the cellar.

Springfield wine estate, family run business, lovely staff, beautiful location and the best wine we have ever tasted!
My new husband and I visited springfield wine estate today. We tasted 'life from stone' it's famous white sav blanc in cape town on recommendation and it was the best white wine we have ever tasted. Until we visited the estate today and tried 'miss Lucy'. We visited the wineries in frankhoek which we felt were quite commercialised. Today we met the owner Janette and the lovely staff of the winery who made us feel so welcome . The staff also took the time to educate us on the production of the wine and the estates history, which we loved. Spring field is a family run business and when Janette heard we were on our honeymoon she gave us 2 bottles of wine for free. The setting, the buildings and the lake are a beautiful backdrop for one to sit and enjoy a wine tasting. If you are doing the garden route it is so worth the trip. We will be rattling home to Ireland with lots of Springfield wine, at unbelievable value. Grace and Sean ireland

    Warm welcome and wonderful wines
Made a return visit to Springfield today. Enjoyed a leisurely tasting conducted by our friendly and knowledgeable guide. We then chose a bottle of white to enjoy with our picnic in the beautiful gardens as well as a few bottles to enjoy on our holiday. Everyone is so kind and helpful and the wines are beautifully made. After a few weeks of frenetic Franschhoek, the Robertson valley is a welcome oasis of calm. We will be back again next year thank you

    Beautiful winery
Springfields estate is lovely. There are a limited number of seats outside and near the lake. We went on a Saturday afternoon and the estate was packed. We found a corner inside to sit to enjoy your tasting. Life from stone was my favorite. For about $8, it was well worth it.

We stopped here on the way to town to buy a few cases of wine as we are familiar with their wines from previous vintages and always enjoy their wine. We didn’t have the option to taste what we wanted to buy and had to pay R80 to taste 5 wines. We ended up not tasting and buying R2500 worth of wines. Upon requesting whether we would still have to pay to taste should we purchase wine, we were told yes. I find this arrogant and revolting. I feel the whole brand is pretentious.

Springfield produces some of my favourite wines and I was looking forward to visiting the estate. We took our seats under the trees facing a small dam. The wine tasting was free!! You can imagine our surprise when we were served the most delicious olives with the wine tasting. The wines did not disappoint and we bought a few boxes. This estate is unpretentious and the service is friendly.

This wine estate is highly recommended. We came here for a quick wine tasting in between some video calls (as we are remote working). Their wifi is excellent & the staff are super helpful. The atmosphere under the trees by the river is peaceful. But most of all, the wine tasting is free! Knowledgeable staff & super friendly. Will definitely do again!

What a fabulous place for wine tasting. The setting is beautiful & the wine very good indeed - our favourite white was the Life from Stone Sauvignon Blanc 2019. All served with delicious home-grown olives and crackers, by Janeen, who was delightful! She was really knowledgeable and very hospitable, with interesting information about the local area too.
A very enjoyable, relaxing hour or so.

Springfield wines have been a favourite for many years and visiting the cellar was a wonderful experience. The service was excellent and ALL the wines good. We could still buy from last years vintage and cannot wait to taste the new wines that are in processing. We bought our favourites: Life from Stone and Miss Lucy. One of the waiters overheard me saying to my husband that I would love to taste the 1981 Chardonay, after we had finished our choice of five. The next moment she arrived with a complimentary glass for us. Wow, probably one of the BEST wines I have ever tasted. Rather expensive, but we purchased one for a friend who is a wine collector. cannot wait to hear his response.
We shall never pass here without tasing AND buying good wine !!

This is our second trip to Springfield. We tasted a couple of the wines and purchased a bottle of A Work of Time.

The main thing I remember as to why I didn't like going there the first time, was the host was quite abrasive. Not very friendly.

However, we can definitely recommend Miss Lucy's and A Work of Time.

Dear Big-Gay-Al1 Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review, we are so glad you enjoyed the wines. Regarding the host, was it the same person as the previous time as we do have more than one person working in our tasting room? We aim to provide friendly, informative service and have always been proud of the welcome we give to our customers. We do hope to see you again soon. Kind regards Jenna Bruwer Kruger & the Springfield Estate team

Springfields Sauvignon Blancs are since many years our absolute favourites. The 2020 vintage is no exception, full of flavour, just excellent! The reds are similar delcious.
Despite a very busy weekend after the long lockdown the service at the tasting center was friendly and informative as ever before. This year they serve their own olives as well and this is all still free of charge in a lovely, relaxed setting on the deck or in the garden.

Life Of The Stone is unbeatable, hands down.
I was introduced to SpringField wine a couple of years ago, by recommendation of a friend. Ever since then, I’m always comparing other wines to Life Of The Stone. Nothing beats Springfield Estate wine!

I recently completed a wine tasting at the estate and I’m now even more impressed than before.
Friendly staff!

Thank you!
I will visit this estate again!

Friendly, hospitable staff, along with a beautiful setting makes this a lovely spot for wine tasting. No charge and complimentary olives and melba toast were a winner! We took our books and took our time... lovely!
